About this property

Upon entering your new home-from-home, kick back and relax in the plush sitting area as the designated chef gets to grips with a modest range of appliances to rustle up a tasty dish; settle down at the dining table ready to tuck in or venture out onto the private lawn area to enjoy an alfresco affair as the stars appear overhead. If you can tear yourself away from this charming base, venture into the centre of Knaresborough where you’ll find all your nearest conveniences so you can stock up on the essentials or delight in a hearty pub lunch on the days you don’t feel like cooking; here, you can also tour the 14th century ruins of Knaresborough Castle, take a relaxing stroll along the River Nidd to reach Knaresborough Viaduct, or look for Mother Shipton’s Cave. Further afield, spend the day in the lovely spa town of Harrogate, home to the Royal Pump Museum, Valley Gardens Harrogate and of course, the renowned Bettys Café Tea Rooms, where you can sample a whole host of tasty treats! Traverse the Yorkshire Dales National Park to discover the National Trust sites of Brimham Rocks and Fountains Abbey, in addition to Hardraw Force Waterfall, Ingleborough Cave and Malham Cove, all with plenty to fill your days. For your next romantic retreat with the one you love, choose Tom's Cabin.

One of the nicest places in North Yorkshire is the old market and spa town of Knaresborough, which is located on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales and has a view of the River Nidd. Its position makes it the perfect starting point for exploring the breathtaking countryside of the Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors National Parks. For those who enjoy history, Knaresborough Castle, St. John's Church, and Knaresborough House were all constructed by the Normans somewhere around 1100 AD. Mother Shipton's petrifying well, the Courthouse Museum, "Ye Oldest Chymist Store in England," which dates back to 1720, and the eccentric House in the Rock are some of the town's additional attractions. Outdoor enthusiasts can go cycling, climbing, fishing, boating, having lovely walks by the river, or just relaxing and taking in the stunning environment. The town centre is filled with unique stores and galleries, and every Wednesday, a vibrant and bustling market is held there. Nearby attractions include the spa town of Harrogate, the magnificent stately homes of Castle Howard and Harewood House, the Cistercian abbeys of Fountains, Rievaulx, and Jervaulx, as well as the castles of Middleham, Bolton, and Richmond. Both Ripon and York are fascinating, historic cathedral cities.

The owner was very welcoming and helpful when the satnav didn't quite get me there, he showed me around the lovely cottage, the kitchen even though basic had plenty of space for storage the cooking facilities basic, no cooker but there was a hotplate microwave and air fryer so not a problem, shower great and hot water in abundance. Even though the bed was low it was perfectly comfortable, sofa in the lounge a little hard but there was a very cozy chair everything was new and very clean and nicely decorated, carparking area outside the door that was great, I had a great stay and will use it again.

Owner Graham is really welcoming too. The cottage has everything needed for a short stay, the bed is comfy, and there is plenty of drawer storage space. It was fab that for once we didn't have to navigate around sizable amounts of old paperbacks, stacks of board games and an array of ornaments when unpacking our belongings. There's plenty of storage space for food as well. The description does not really do this cottage full justice, e.g. there is free wifi and Netflix, and a power socket in the living area has USB ports, as do the bedside lamps in the bedroom. Whilst there is no cooker (which we knew beforehand and didn't need), there is a plug-in double hotplate in one of the kitchen cupboards. Just a heads-up for anyone on the larger side: it can be a bit of an adventure for more voluptuous guests to try and squeeze through the little gap at the side of the shower screen, which is firmly installed in situ (going by the online photograph, we had assumed that this would swing open). The shower itself is absolutely divine though. We returned home totally relaxed and would gladly stay in one of Graham's properties again.

We alreadyknew the cooking facilities were basic but, since we ate out (no hardship with all the restaurants, cafes, pubs, etc. in Knaresborough & surrounding area) and only snacked in the evening, it was fine for us. The shower and the heating are first class. Graham was welcoming, very helpful and gave us useful advice on places to visit, parking etc. We certainly hope to return.
