Guests say

The Sun House receives glowing praise for its cosy, spotless interiors and beautiful gardens, providing a peaceful retreat in a charming village setting. Guests consistently highlight the warm welcome from the owners, the well-equipped cottage, and its excellent location for exploring Yorkshire’s attractions. The property is described as comfortable and tastefully decorated, with thoughtful touches throughout. While a few minor issues are mentioned, such as the closure of the local pub and driveway visibility, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, making it a highly recommended choice for a relaxing holiday.

Cleanliness is frequently praised, with multiple guests describing the cottage as spotless, very clean, and well presented. Only one review mentions a minor oversight with an old milk bottle and oven grill, but this is an exception among overwhelmingly positive feedback.

The location is highly rated, with guests appreciating its peaceful village setting and proximity to Knaresborough, Harrogate, York, and the Yorkshire Dales. The only minor negatives are the closure of the local pub and a comment about driveway visibility, but these do not detract from the overall positive impression.

Comfort is a standout feature, with guests describing the cottage as cosy, warm, and comfortable. The tasteful decor, central gas stove, and relaxing gardens contribute to a homely atmosphere, making it ideal for unwinding after days out.

Facilities are well regarded, with guests noting the well-equipped kitchen, modern amenities, and attractive gardens. The only notable omission is the lack of a washing machine, mentioned by one guest, and a suggestion for improved driveway safety.

Guests frequently mention the owners’ warm welcome, helpfulness, and thoughtful touches such as a pint of milk on arrival. While these gestures are appreciated, it should be noted that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

The house had everything you’d need. Garden and courtyard were great. Sat nav doesn’t take to the exact location so advise you give hosts a ring prior to arrival and they can direct you in.

Beautifully restored by the owners Mark and Fiona it has everything you need all on one floor. The furnishings are entirely sympathetic to the building. Even better is the fact that it is set in the extensive garden of their house which has abundant fruit trees as well as delightful flowers. We found plenty to occupy us during our week's stay and there is an excellent selection of tourist leaflets in the cottage. Overall one of the nicest cottages we have stayed in. Thank you to Mark and Fiona for making us feel so welcome.
