So cosy and well-equipped. Took us a while to spot the very apt hourly clock function and was a lovely surprise when we did (which I won’t spoil by detailing but people may guess!). Looking at the photos and comments I was concerned about the size of the telly but it was fine. Perfectly visible & worked well. Also I’d seen comments regarding parking but we got parked right next to the cottage every time we returned and when we arrived. Cones seem to have been provided to help with this. The kids loved the games room, enjoying the darts & air hockey table. We loved the Royal Oak which was even closer than we expected and ate there 3 of the 5 nights. Great service & food. A very warm welcome there too. Pateley Bridge had all we needed and more. Nice big playground, chippie, pancake house, a few shops for souvenirs, food etc. petrol station very handy for the last day. We enjoyed trips to Harrogate, Ripon, Coldstone Cut & Brimham Rocks. All worth a visit! Loved the fire. Great bathroom with bath & shower & comfy beds. Very noisy floorboards but as you’d expect in a property of this age. Kitchen was very well equipped. Book exchange & bookmarks were a nice touch. Just a couple of minor niggles: Heating was set very high! I tried to lower it from 24 degrees but it seemed to revert every time a new cycle changed. Didn’t want to fiddle with settings other than temperature & just kept on top of it. The oven was very difficult to figure out since it seems to have non conventional settings (eg no ‘fan oven’) and to compound this many of the symbols have rubbed off. We got round it after a fair bit of googling in conjunction with the instructions provided. Ended up searching up an image of the Smeg dial. Would be useful to include this image with the instructions so people can see which position each setting is on the dial or mark them on the oven itself? Also the velux window in the back bedroom leaked during heavy rain (luckily just onto the floor rather than the nearby bed so more an issue for the owners than us). Thank you for having us, we had a very relaxing & enjoyable stay. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or return.

We couldn’t park near the cottage as there was a bmw parked outside the cottage all week. It never moved and ended up parking at the end of the one way street this meant as we took 2 cars one of the cars was rarely used and consequently ended up covered in sticky tree sap The games room was a big hit with our 6 yr old granddaughter We do feel that many cottages say they are dog friendly but when you arrive there are a list of things dogs can’t do ie get on the furniture or go upstairs. This criticism is not only aimed at cuckoo cottage Or dog is allowed on our furniture and sleeps on our bed. It makes any holiday more stressful than it needs to be when you’re trying to keep the dog off the sofa and from going upstairs. She doesn’t understand why she has to stay downstairs when we go to bed Overall the cottage was lovely. The underfloor heating is a nice touch and the bathroom is modern and spacious. The floors upstairs feel a little less well supported and are very noisy and creaky The cottages back seating area though small is a sun trap but could do with a tidy up On the whole we had a lovely time and would recommend the cottage to our none dog owning friends
