At the foot of the stunning North Yorkshire Moors National Park, these refurbished cottages offer holiday accommodation of a very good standard and enjoy peace, tranquillity and beautiful views across the open countryside. Excellent walking and cycling are on the doorstep. Delightful Thirsk, with its 15th-century church and renowned racecourse is just 6 miles away. James Herriot lived and worked there and the Herriot Centre is the only veterinary science museum in the country. The medieval cobbled market square hosts a twice weekly market and is surrounded by individual shops, traditional inns and tea rooms. To the west lie the Yorkshire Dales, Ripon, the elegant spa town of Harrogate and the World Heritage Site at Fountains Abbey. To the east lie the market towns of Helmsley and Pickering, terminus for the North Yorkshire Moors steam train. Castle Howard and York are within an hour’s drive and easily accessible are Scarborough, Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and Staithes. Golf, fishing and horse riding available nearby. Shop 6 miles, pub 2 miles.

Beautiful cottage, well equipped for a peaceful, relaxing break. It was a little further out the village than we first thought but it didn't bother my husband & I, we love the peace and quiet. We would return if we decided to come back down this way again.

Definitely not for us. Never saw a living soul when we were there, a antisocial place. TV doesn't work in the bedrooms and only worked on occasions in the lounge. The beams in the lounge area are covered in dust.

Perfect central location for Skipton with its canal trips and steam train rides and Fountains Abbey to the west, Thornton le dale home of the Bangers and cash programme, park in long stay car par and walk 2 mins passed pond stream river to village shops and hand made chocolates shop. Pickering with its castle and steam train to Whitby, Scarborough to the east, take a ride on the Victorian tram up the hill to Scarborough town. Mount Grace Priory worth a visit 10 mins north from cottage. Beware of road closures diversions unclear need a map, driving to Aysgarth falls came to abrupt stop in Middleham road closed!Knayton is a pretty village great pub Dog and Gun excellent food lovely staff. Property in lovely quiet setting very peaceful.Large airy bedroomsEverything looked lovely and sparkling clean.It’s a bit tired in places, sofas uncomfortable. Bedside lampshade ragged and bulb too big for it.Have to view tv through free view app should be mentioned in welcome book. Dimmer lights flicker when low in sitting room so used bedside table lamp.Plenty of hot water and heating excellent once worked it out, simple really.Toilet in main bedroom en suite drips continually annoying at night.Front of toilet rim inside the bowl was black, couldn’t help noticing when in the bath as toilet next to bath.Nice garden to sit and have a coffee/tea so peaceful put cups etc on bedroom window sill to save carrying round much easier.Tea tray sparse just few teas coffee and sugar . Had come prepared with milk etc as had read reviews .
