About this property

Nestled in a charming North Yorkshire village, Leeming Methodist Church stands as a magnificent example of Gothic Victorian architecture and a proud British heritage building. This extraordinary conversion project has gained acclaim on the popular and immersive TV show, Caroline Quentin's Derelict Rescue, showcasing its remarkable transformation. Originally established in 1903, the church quickly became a beloved part of the community, offering solace to RAF personnel during the tumultuous years of the Second World War. With a deep appreciation for the building's history and unique features, the owners embarked on a mission to create a heavenly sanctuary for up to six guests and their well-behaved dog. The interior showcases a perfect fusion of historic charm and cutting-edge modernity, ensuring an unforgettable stay. Discover the secrets hidden within the walls, including a 'secret' bookcase door activated by a Bible, leading to a concealed bedroom—a truly enchanting surprise. The magnificent church pulpit takes centre stage in the living room, flanked by English leather Chesterfield sofas that invite you to sink in, savour a cuppa, and engage in delightful conversations. Prepare to be inspired in the vaulted designer kitchen, a true masterpiece that elicits both awe and wonder, the sleek Bertazzoni Italian master range cooker may become a subject of friendly debates among aspiring chefs vying for the honour of preparing divine feasts. Adorned with brass-and-gold fittings, opulent marble worktops, and a generous kitchen island, this culinary haven epitomises sheer luxury. Ascend the remarkable staircase to discover two additional exquisite attic bedroom suites, each offering stunning views of the central stained-glass window. Here, you'll find delights beyond imagination—a pair of statement hand-polished copper bathtubs evocative mood lighting, and captivating heritage features such as the original church trusses and wall panelling that exude a sense of drama and history. It is an excellent building and we enjoyed reading about the history and they have managed to keep the heart of the original building with lots of beautiful features. As it outlined in the listing is not so suitable for small children or old age pension due to the stairs , but outside of that one of the best places we have stayed in over the past 20 years.

The conversation is really high end and no expense spared. Everything has been well thought through and beautifully presented. I had a lovely stay. A lovely treat to myself.

But the low down beds upstairs were a downside for us and mattresses a bit too soft. As a Couple in our mid forties we value a comfy bed so much more than when we were younger and we did both wake with back ache. The spacious kitchen was very well equipped except for an iron and ironing board. Which we couldn’t find. The hot water was scary, but our children were old enough to understand so this was fine. There are some lovely village pubs and eating places nearby and people in the village including the neighbours are really friendly, Our 9 year old daughter loved the secret cupboard bedroom and her special en-suite bathroom which was her little chill out space. Only final comment would be for there to be more seating outside and perhaps a couple of comfy lounging chairs or additional seating. As it would have been nice to maybe have a drink or eat outside. Especially if you are wanting to listen to or see the RAF planes flying overhead. Many thanks
