You could enjoy a romantic picnic by the water or read a chapter of your book in the wildlife-rich woodland. Further afield, drive to Northallerton to experience its historic market town charm, and visit the Norman castle at Richmond (11 miles). For further rural exploration in a landscape of lush valleys and windswept hills, the Yorkshire Dales National Park starts just 18 miles west.
