One such town is the foodie hotspot of Helmsley (10 miles), home to a multitude of artisan cafes, boutiques and restaurants, together with an indulgent Verbena spa. Inside, this sandstone barn has been lovingly converted to offer a spectacular open plan and double height living space. With heated flagstone floors, a wood burner, Freeview TV/DVD and comfortable leather sofas, this is the perfect spot to hunker down and spend a rainy afternoon or cosy winter's evening. To the rear, a charming sheltered patio is furnished with table and chairs and a BBQ for those long summer nights.
