About this property

Dating back to 1753, Wren Cottage retains much of its traditional character and stands as a delightful detached stone built cottage in the heart of North Yorkshire. The cottage is perfectly situated for couples of all ages seeking a quiet romantic retreat or maybe cyclists, walkers, bird watchers or ramblers keen to explore The Yorkshire Dales and beyond.

Stepping into the cottage through the porch brings you into the cosy sitting room which is home to a multi-fuel stove in the inglenook fireplace and comfy seating. This double aspect room offers a cosy space to unwind within the comfort of the tastefully styled furnishings and original features, including wooden beams and stone hearth. The sitting room also offers a dining area where you can enjoy your home-cooked meals or plan your fun filled day ahead. The contemporary kitchen is compact, well equipped and leads out onto a small courtyard area. A staircase from the kitchen leads to your two bedrooms; a master double room with exposed beam and a single room; both with tasteful décor. The layout of this cottage is perfect for a couple or a small family with a young child.

Serviced by a fully equipped bathroom, enjoy a relaxing soak in the bath or a hot shower before retreating to bed with a good book or to reflect on the delights of the day. Outside there is a well maintained enclosed garden offering a private and sheltered sitting area where you can retreat to enjoy the peace and quiet of the idyllic countryside setting. There is also a separate courtyard sun trap where you can enjoy an early evening glass of wine whilst keeping an eye on cooking the evening meal. The local area holds a lot of natural wonder with many established public footpaths and cycle paths which lead to some of the most magnificent countryside. Slightly further afield, you can find the market town of Bedale with its selection of shops and eateries plus attractions of a golf course, a museum, and an animal farm attraction – plenty to explore. In the opposite direction and only 6 miles distant, lies the market town of Leyburn, also offering plenty of attractions including the Chocolate Factory, weekly farmers market and many shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs that are located around the square. Richmond, Middleham, Aysgarth Falls and the traditional Yorkshire villages of Reeth, Masham, Gunnerside, and Hawes are all within easy reach.

Nestled ideally between the Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors, you are perfectly located for exploring the best of the countryside and enjoying the gems of Yorkshire.

Bedale is a historic market town resting close to the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors National Parks. Within the town itself you can find a selection of shops, as well as benefiting from a weekly market for all of your self-catering amenities. You will also be greeted by shops, pubs, cafés and even its own museum. In close reach of attractions such as Constable Burton Hall, Thorp Perrow Arboretum, and the Forbidden Corner, Bedale makes an ideal base for uncovering the many wonders of Yorkshire.
