The property is situated in a very picturesque & quiet setting. There are a number of opportunities for walking & Easby is in a great location for visiting local villages & towns by car. The owners are on hand for any questions you might have. They even joined us in letting off fireworks on bonfire night. All in all we had a great time.

The cottage has been expertly converted and the layout is very good and there is ample parking and an EV charger which can be used by guests by making arrangements with the owner, Brian. The beds and pillows were comfortable, the place was clean and we all enjoyed our stay. Brian, was most helpful and accepted delivery of our shopping order and sorted it into the kitchen for us prior to our arrival. The location was easy to find and it is a very quiet, peaceful hamlet of just a few houses. The kitchen had a good range of dishes, pans and utensils including some earthenware oven dishes - another reviewer had mentioned a lack of pyrex ovenware so I wasn’t expecting these. Kitchen equipment included a slow cooker and I found this made stacking the saucepans challenging as they share a cupboard. The oven has two full width roasting pans but I would have liked some smaller baking trays mainly as these would fit in the dishwasher better. It was the hottest week of the year during our stay which was unexpected for September, this made cooking interesting as the hot water tank is next to the cooker and having both the water and the oven on made the room like a sauna. There was a leak of clean water in one of the bathrooms during our stay and Brian was very diligent getting it sorted out at times that that were convenient to us (rather than what suited the plumber) which we greatly appreciated. The only thing that I felt let the property down a little was the presence of a small amount of black mould in our en-suite (I didn’t check the other one) around the shower and at the back of the sink. The property is finished to a very high standard with this one exception; it looks like an amateur job has been done with silicone in an otherwise high-finish cottage. I suspect that this is high on the maintenance list for when the holiday season is over as the cottage was immaculate otherwise. We enjoyed our stay very much, the area is beautiful and we explored widely, both Whitby and York are easy driving distances and the roads were good, and would happily recommend Beechwood Cottage to others.

Accommodation was ideal for the four of us. However no outside washing line was provided, although washing machine, ironing board/iron were provided.
