About this property

Tucked away within the heart of the bustling town of Huddersfield, is this delightful, two-bedroom duplex penthouse apartment, J P Pritchett, named after the architect of this stunning, Grade II listed building. Originally Huddersfield College built back in 1839, this property boasts a light and airy interior set over two floors, with easy access to many nearby pubs and restaurants, making it a great choice for families and friends seeking a charming abode close to the town centre of Huddersfield, just a short drive or a brief walk to and from the station. Or make the car journey over the hill into the neighbouring, historic town of Halifax where the magnificent Piece Hall hosts many live events throughout the year, or even stop by Shibden Hall where Gentleman Jack was filmed. All of this and more awaits you during a stay at J P Pritchett. Note: This property can be booked with Ref. 1134793, together sleeping up to 10 guests.

Huddersfield is geographically located in a basin that is surrounded by hills, and this can be observed from many different vantage points in the region. The Industrial Revolution, when Huddersfield rose to prominence as one of the top manufacturing cities for exquisite woollen textiles, is largely responsible for its development and success. Huddersfield has evolved into a posh shopping district with numerous pedestrian areas in the modern age. On the Leeds Road, a contemporary complex with a stadium, swimming pool, and multiplex cinema is located just outside of the town centre. The town also includes three parks, a fantastic modern spa facility, and a gorgeous theater, and it has great access to other tourist destinations along the highway. Eight miles from Haworth, the birthplace of the famed Bronte sisters, and sixteen miles from Holmfirth, the home of Compo, Cleggy, and Nora Batty from the enduring comedy series Last of the Summer Wine, respectively. The Kirklees Light Railway and Eureka, the National Children's Museum are just two of the many attractions in the area that make it a great place for kids. In addition to being close to the bustling cities of Manchester, Leeds, and Sheffield, this wonderful area is rich in history and known for its kind hospitality.

The property is well equipped and comfortable. There are no website photos of the upstairs (20 steps up) twin room 2'6" beds (we pushed them together). There is a large shower off this bedroom and a toilet and washbasin across the small top landing. The main bathroom is off the spacious master bedroom downstairs. To make 6 people there is a sofa bed on the mezzanine level above the lounge, so is open plan. As it is up in the penthouse, the lift is useful for luggage on arrival and departure! There is parking for one car but is quite a tight space for a larger vehicle. We would book again.

The Penthouse itself was lovely, very clean and spacious. If i had one criticism it would be the downstairs bathroom had to be passed through to get to the downstairs bedroom but this is a minor gripe. Everything was clean and furniture and decor was lovely. Andrew was also very helpful when contacted regarding parking and other things.
