Red Cottage is a semi-detached former estate workers cottage. It was built in 1890 in the Arts and Crafts style to house a worker’s family from The Londesborough Estate. It sits on the main street of the village in a quiet rural setting only six miles from the market town of Driffield and twelve miles from the Georgian town of Beverley. The accommodation is set over three floors sleeping six persons (and a dog) and provides a superb base for your family holiday. The cottage has recently undergone a full renovation and features a kitchen and dining area doubling as a popular social space for all the guests. The high ceiling and velux roof lights are complimented by a full wall of opening tri-fold doors leading onto the patio area and enclosed lawn. Outside lighting will allow guests to enjoy socialising and making plans for the following days exploring. When the sun goes down why not head indoors to the cosy living room to relax in front of the wood burning stove. Perhaps relax in front of the TV, read a book from the bookcase or just chat about the day. You can then head up to the bedrooms where the front bedroom has an en-suite shower room and TV. The rear bedroom overlooks the garden and bowling green and the top bedroom with its twin beds has double velux windows. There is much to see and do in the area with the market towns of Driffield and Beverley close by. Beverley boasts a beautiful Minster featured in many film and TV adaptations often as a double for Westminster Abbey. In addition is the equally wonderful St Mary’s church with a famous connection to Lewis Carroll. The town has many independent shops, restaurants and cafes. There is also a cinema, theatre and well regarded art gallery and treasure house museum. For those looking for a more active break the Wolds countryside is criss-crossed with dog friendly walks and beaches. The seaside can be accessed anywhere along the east coast with Bridlington, Flamborough and Filey being firm favourites. The RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs is impressive as the cliffs are the second highest sea cliffs (after Beachy Head), in the UK towering over 330 feet! Cycling in this part of the country is very well catered for particularly as the Tour de Yorkshire chose twice to have a stage of the race through the village. The views are stunning and roads are cycle-friendly with miles of undulating roads in rural countryside. The world renowned artist David Hockney has had many visits to the area as he spent a period of his life living in nearby Bridlington. Why not visit the locations of his paintings on a ramble? York is within an hour’s drive with its Roman history, city walls, museums and galleries as well as unique shops, pubs and restaurants. It is a tourist magnet for all the right reasons and you should surely consider a day there. With all of this available from your lovely holiday cottage you’ll want to return again to visit the parts you missed the first time!

Driffield is a busy market town set in the Yorkshire Wolds, with a lot on offer for its visitors. There are many pubs and cafes to choose from, providing quality food and drink from local suppliers.

Visitors can enjoy shopping for local produce at the weekly market, held in Driffield every Thursday, which is a very popular local event and there is also the yearly Driffield Show held at the Showground every summer.
