After dinner, cosy up in the living/dining room with the gas fire alight, planning your impending itinerary, before completing your nightly routine in the sleek bathroom. Climb into either the plush king-size bed, or the sumptuous double bed, before awakening to traverse West Yorkshire, starting off locally in Heptonstall; here you will locate a Post Office and The White Lion pub, with further amenities located in Hebden Bridge. You can stock up on the essentials at the shops and post office only paces away, or why not treat your loved ones to a sweet treat at the local café, which you can take away for a scenic picnic. The village itself was also the location of the recent BBC series, ‘The Gallows Pole’ and you can catch a glimpse of the back of the cottage in some scenes; it is also well-known for the hit series ‘Happy Valley’. Within the proximity of 40 Northgate, you'll locate several National Trust properties and landmarks, including Midgehole Crags and Hardcastle Crags, whilst the Heptonstall Museum offers insight into the local history; outdoor enthusiasts will also enjoy hiking towards Lumb Hole Falls, offering a beautiful backdrop for a picnic. Travel north to visit the Brontë Parsonage Museum, board the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway for a guided tour of the county, and trek alongside Bronte Waterfall, whilst the Ogden Water Country Park offers the perfect place for bird watching. With various footpaths at your feet and Hebden Bridge also within reach, there are plenty of opportunities to explore your picturesque setting on foot. Well-positioned to reach the likes of Halifax, which has links to the famous English diarist, Anne Lister, Leeds and Huddersfield, there's plenty to see and do with 40 Northgate as your abode.

The village of Heptonstall is set high on a prominent hillside above its close neighbour, Hebden Bridge. Heptonstall is one of West Yorkshire's best kept secrets; a wonderfully preserved village with a main street that has changed very little in the last 200 years. Formerly an important centre for hand-loom weaving, the village still retains its original trading hall, while the old Grammar School, by the churchyard, is now a museum testifying to the village's illustrious past. The churchyard is also the burial home for the American poet, novelist & short-story writer Sylvia Plath, perhaps best known for her collections of published poems & novel "The Bell Jar". Heptonstall was a place she stayed in before & during her marriage to the poet Ted Hughes. In the centre are the two remaining pubs, the Cross Inn, believed to date from the early 17th century, and the White Lion, rumoured to be haunted by a Roundhead on a horse, a throwback to when the village was besieged during the Civil War. Nearby is the attractive town of Hebden Bridge, while the area is a must for steam railway enthusiasts who will enjoy the thriving Worth Valley Railway. Skipton, the Gateway to the Dales, is an easy and scenic car ride away.
