These beautiful semi-detached, stone built barn conversions can be found in the Calderdale village of Northowram, West Yorkshire. Surrounded by 4 acres of land, they offer outstanding countryside views over the stunning rural surroundings, and being situated directly on the path of the Calderdale Way, provide ample opportunity for walking and cycling.
Both cottages (refs UK33352 and UK33353) have been beautifully furnished with superb attention to detail and luxury touches. Downstairs they benefit from full underfloor heating, and feature floor to ceiling windows to really make the most of the views. Upstairs the bedrooms have modern en-suite facilities and for a memorable nights sleep, you will find the finest 100% cotton bed linen. Outside, both properties have private outdoor seating areas and shared access to a lawned garden. Cedar Barn (ref UK33352) also has the added benefit of a hot tub, just perfect for relaxing at the end of a long day.
Shibden Hall, an exquisite 600 year old timber manor house set within 37 hectares, is just a 5-minute drive from the properties, and is most recognisable as the backdrop to BBCs ’Gentleman Jack’. A 10-minute drive will take you to the historic town of Halifax, where you will find ample amenities including many great places to eat and drink. Halifax is also home to the unique Grade I listed Piece Hall, as well as Eureka!, the National Children’s Museum, and the Halifax Minster. Slightly further afield is the charming and vibrant market town of Hebden Bridge which can be reached in around a 30-minute drive, as can Haworth, most famous for its Brontë heritage. Set between the Peak District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks, both can be reached in around an hour, together with the bright lights of both Manchester and York. These properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 8 guests.

We had an amazing time at Cedar Barn - the cottage was immaculate and beautifully decorated inside. We had everything we could possibly need for our stay and it really felt like a home away from home, the welcome hamper was a lovely surprise too! The beds were super comfy so we got some great rest and the hot tub was lovely to relax in too. A beautiful location too which feels like you are right in the middle of the countryside however Halifax centre is a short 10 mins ride away. Big shout out to our hosts Roger and Michelle too who were very welcoming, we'd love to go back one day!

A beautiful and well presented cottage and hosted by two welcoming hosts Michelle & Roger. Our stay was comfortable in this top end barn conversion , with a welcoming pack fit for a King ! This was our first visit to the Calderdale valley , we visited Peace Hall in Halifax and Shibden Hall just on the outskirts of Halifax - both were delightful with plenty of history. It’s lovely to return to a relaxing cottage at the end of a long day - with all the home comforts and comfortable furnishings you can imagine. I would recommend Cedar Barn to any one looking for top end accommodation in this area - a big thank you to Michelle & Roger for being great hosts - we’ll definitely be staying again the next time we’re in the area !!
