Snaptrip says

Ash Tree Barn in Halifax is highly praised for its idyllic location, welcoming hosts, and thoughtful touches like complimentary wine and eggs. Guests enjoy the property's views, cosy atmosphere, and suitability as a base for exploring Yorkshire and Lancashire. While some find the open-plan layout less private, the majority relish the comfort and charm of this countryside retreat.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Most guests report the property as clean and well-prepared, contributing to a comfortable stay. However, a few guests noted areas where hygiene could be improved, particularly in the bathroom and kitchen, slightly lowering the overall cleanliness score.

The location is frequently highlighted as ideal, offering spectacular views and a perfect base for exploring the local area. Its proximity to local pubs and the ease of accessing both Yorkshire and Lancashire contribute to a high location score.

The majority of guests find the barn cosy and comfortable, with a relaxing atmosphere. Some concerns were raised about the comfort of additional sleeping arrangements like sofa beds, which affects the score slightly.

Facilities are generally well-received, with special mentions of the kitchen being well-equipped. However, some guests noted a lack of storage space for clothing and issues with the shower temperature, indicating room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.

Guests often mention and appreciate the thoughtful gestures of the hosts, such as leaving a bottle of wine and fresh eggs. While these gifts are warmly received, it is important to note that such personal touches, though common, are not guaranteed with every stay.

About this property

Set on a high promontory overlooking the wild and rugged countryside of Calderdale, this charming, upside-down wing of the owners stone-built farmhouse is situated in the tiny hamlet of Wainstalls one of the locations used in the TV series Happy Valley, just two miles from Luddenden. This lovely, restored property offers wonderful views of the surrounding area and first-class holiday accommodation, ideal for getting away from it all and enjoying a romantic break. It is part of a large, non-working farm and on the first floor, there is a spacious living area with a curved ceiling, modern Velux windows and a large picture window on the gable end to take advantage of the spectacular views across the valley. With a 50" screen television with Netflix, it makes a luxurious sitting area, while the king size bed is positioned to take advantage of the fabulous views. On the ground floor, there is a modern, well-equipped kitchen/diner, a first-class shower room and access to a small patio area, where you can enjoy a glass of wine in the evening sunshine. You can also make use of the owners spacious grounds! The local pub is just a two-minute walk away, renowned for its hospitality, good ale and excellent food, plus there are many inspiring walks across the beautiful moors that can be enjoyed from the doorstep. Hebden Bridge, Haworth and the bustling town of Skipton are all within an easy drive and definitely worth exploring. Look out for the Ted Hughes Festival that takes place in the town of Mytholmroyd, his birthplace, each year, or visit Shibden Hall, an exquisite, six hundred year-old timber manor house set within 37 hectares of the Shibden Valley! This fabulous holiday home is ideal for a couple’s retreat, where you can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy this historic corner of the Yorkshire Dales.

Luddenden, a Conservation village in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, close to Hebden Bridge. The village has a lovely church "St Mary's" and a very old pub "The Lord Nelson" where Bramwell Bronte once drank and is asserted to have established the first public library in one of the upstairs rooms.

Our only real issue was the shower in the bathroom, this was a very cold room and the shower very poor in water pressure. Overall we had a good few days only coming back to sleep as our son lives in Hebden bridge and we came to see him and the children.
