About this property

A characterful apartment dwelling, resting within a prominent position within the endearing village of Howarth, Turners' Retreat is an ideal base for a couple looking to escape to the rugged moorland that inspired the classic novels of the Brontë sisters. Sitting on the steep street of Haworth Main, surrounded by other pre-Victorian abodes with their feature low ceilings and imposing stairs, the location of this property is a true delight for exploring the charming ambiance and rich history of the area. Upon entering the welcoming property, you will find a brightly-decorated open-plan living room, boasting charming exposed beams and overlooking views of historic street. Prepare your evening meals within the amply equipped kitchen before sinking into the sofas which sit in front of the TV, ideal for catching up on your favourite TV shows. After a busy day exploring the historical attractions found dotted around the area, you will be delighted to retire to the double bedroom or take a warming bath within the elegantly presented bathroom. Resting below the property you can find the Looby Lou’s shop which featured in the drama 'To Walk Invisible’, and with research showing that the shop belonged to J.Greenwood Stationary & Tea Dealer, where the Brontë Sisters allegedly used to purchase their stationary, there’s no better base for exploring the area’s rich literary history. Offering a superb backdrop of the picture postcard countryside and plenty of scenic walking routes, this wonderful village also benefits from housing a fine selection of traditional pubs, restaurants, cafes and independent shops, each located within a mere stone’s throw from the property. For walking lovers, you will find a number of walks upon the moorland, allowing you to follow in the footsteps of Catherine and Heathcliff. For a taste of history, spend an afternoon at the Brontë Parsonage Museum or visit the Worth Valley Railway to see an authentic railway which was used in the iconic film The Railway Children. Alternatively, Skipton is nearby, with its cobbled streets and delightful castle and further afield is the Victorian spa town of Harrogate, boasting fabulous shops, an excellent theatre and the fantastic Royal Pump Room Museum. A wonderful self-catering apartment, perfect for a romantic break, exploring all this lovely area has to offer.

Home to the famous Bronte sister is the small village of Howarth, resting close to the Yorkshire Dales National Park and is surrounded by moorland that inspired some classics of English Literature. Throughout this village you will find a number of historic attractions, antique shops, eateries and pubs to suit all.
