The Tv doesn’t work, dishwasher doesn’t work, fire doesn’t work properly as described. The beds are hard the lounge is not suitable for two people let alone four like the property has advertised. In the photos the cottage looks light and airy, it’s not it’s dark and dismal. The owners do not communicate and the whole property just appears as though it has not been looked after it’s dated and old. There’s screws and nails poking out of the walls and the light fitting in the bathroom is full of grease and dirt and is disgusting. I wish I had taken note of the negative views before visiting as I would not have gone. On the plus side the location is beautiful and the area is lovely. The cottage has such amazing potential however this has not been utilised by the current owners and I would not recommend this as somewhere nice to stay.

So many things were wrong and uncomfortable. We walked into the room on arrival and my heart sank, it was so dark, dismal and comfortless. The online photos are completely deceptive. The main/only room had a cold ceramic tiled floor, quite inappropriate for a sitting room, and the fireside rug was completely shabby and faded. The television had no facility for watching BBC1,2,or 4, just a selection of channels of no interest to us. We were quite unable to get the DVD player, kept in a hole in the wall, to work as an alternative. So the next option was to read but in the evening the light was entirely inadequate for reading, being very dim. I had to resort to bringing a bedside light down from a bedroom and hold it in my hand over the book to read. There were no coffee tables to put a lamp or cup of tea on, I had to turn a bucket which sat in the sitting room with a mop [ why there?] upside down to use. My friend used a dining chair with a broken leg as a coffee table. Into the kitchen, which was overall clean and well equipped , but the fridge! As well as being very small, with half the door storage broken, to get into the main compartment one had to kneel on the floor, it was so low down, from the level of the floor to about 14" above the ground. Out of the back door to the courtyard garden which was weedy, overgrown and neglected (with an extremely smelly black bin) The timeclock for hot water and heating was hours out so the only way to get some heating on one cold wet day was to turn it to the 24 hour "on" position , which necessitated kneeling on the floor again in the cupboard , from which position I found it impossible to correct the clock. The bathroom door does not shut properly, nor does it have a lock. The bedrooms were mainly adequate but could have benefitted from having waste bins, and some drawers in the first floor bedroom. The bedding and towels were clean. I tried to contact Sykes and housekeeping, Hummingbird Housekeeping rang back the following morning, suggesting we might be moved but nothing came of this. The whole feeling about this cottage is that noone takes any interest in it, nothing much has been invested in the comfort of guests, noone has ever spent enough time there to realise the discomfort of living there. The photo of the house interior made it look bright , cosy and light, nothing like the reality. I cannot believe that Sykes have given it a "5 star rating, perfect" and 4 ticks, it makes your rating system meaningless. I would like to have your reply as soon as possible before going further.
