About this property

Enveloped by picturesque countryside and the fascinating village of Bretforton is this character-filled, terraced property, Crompton Cottage, resting to the north of the beautiful Cotswolds AONB and less than five miles away from Evesham. With so much sitting on its doorstep, this delightful cottage provides a wonderful base for a couple or two to enjoy a much-needed romantic getaway, filled with great outdoor adventures and superb attractions. Enter into the charming retreat and be welcomed into the sitting area, where a roaring open fire sets a tranquil ambiance for you to snuggle up to your other half on the blue sofa on a winter’s evening, flicking through the options on the Smart TV. Adjoining this space is a sweet dining table, where you and your partner can indulge in a glass of wine or two and set the table for your meal, before venturing into the kitchen to cook up a storm. Within the kitchen, the huge skylight floods the space with natural light as you make the most of the quality appliances, arranged in a contemporary assortment, as well as a handy washer/dryer, so that you can easily freshen up your belongings after a muddy countryside walk. During the evening, be sure to savour a moment of relaxation by running a bath, found within the ground-floor bathroom, which is a great way to unwind before heading upstairs to find your sleeping spot. Here, you will find a lovely king-size bedroom, complete with its own Smart TV, so that you can enjoy lazy Sunday mornings with your loved one from the comfort of the plush duvet, as well as good storage space for keeping your things. Step across the original wooden floorboards to find the double bedroom, also home to its own Smart TV and full-length mirror, making this a great property for two couples. Each morning, look forward to taking your morning cup of coffee out onto the rear courtyard garden to admire your surroundings, before heading out to discover the true delights of this village. Here, you will find a popular 600-year-old pub, owned by the National Trust, where you can enjoy its delicious menu and welcoming atmosphere, as well as a community led village shop for picking up any essentials; it is little wonder that this village was featured on Penelope Keith's 'Village of the Year' Channel 4 TV series in January 2018. Visit Broadway, just 6 miles away, is a picture-postcard village, full of eateries with many of the ingredients sourced locally from farms and suppliers, and history with unique landmarks like Broadway Tower. It's striking buildings built in a characterful yellow limestone and untouched in centuries is the perfect way to spend an afternoon soaking up the atmosphere of this charming village. Why not enjoy a freshly made cream tea in one of the local cafes outside, where you can sit and watch the world go by, one of the many places to grab a bite to eat. For a more romantic setting you can enjoy a beautifully cooked meal at Buckland Manor or the Lygon Bar & Grill, one of many places to eat with a beautiful setting and perfect for enjoying the company of your loved one. There really is so much to do and see in the apparent sleepy English Village and not a place to be missed during your visit. Alternatively, head to the market town of Evesham, where you will find a larger selection of eateries for some romantic evenings out, so you are certain to find what you are looking for, as well as a number of events and music nights for great evening entertainment. Immerse yourself in the local history by taking time to visit the Almonry Museum and Heritage Centre, a stunning 14th Century, Grade II listed building serving as the town’s museum and home to a display of artefacts and archives for all to enjoy. Prepare a delicious picnic and take it to the pretty Abbey Park which rests just moments away from the striking River Avon, offering a great opportunity for a leisurely stroll, soaking up your surroundings along with the fabulous company. Visit the National Trust property of Middle Littleton Tithe Barn or soak up your scenic surroundings with a journey on the Evesham Vale Light Railway. With the wonders of the Cotswolds AONB awaiting to be explored too, in addition to the historic Cheltenham and Stratford-upon-Avon situated just a scenic drive away, Crompton Cottage is the perfect choice for a much-needed romantic break with your loved one.

The village was very nice and the pub was outstanding. The only downside was the traffic and parking.

The cottage sleeps 4 but in reality the living areas area really only suitable for 2 without it feeling cramped. The chair in the lounge is very uncomfortable but the sofa is lovely to sit in front of the fire. We found both beds to be very uncomfortable but that’s personal preference. Having TVs in both bedrooms was great and the wifi is strong enough to stream through the smart TVs. Parking wasnt an issue and we could usually get parked outside the cottage but the road itself is very busy and we did get woken up a few times with lorries. Overall we felt Sykes may have been a little over generous giving the property 5 ticks as a rating.

The cottage, was indeed, a home away from home- clean, warm, cosy and not far from some beautiful locations. The owners were very helpful and at hand if we needed anything. Bretforton village, is a charming place, and so is the Fleece Inn, where we had some nice meals. A very enjoyable break.
