The charming Gloucestershire town of Tewkesbury (4.5 miles) is the meeting place for the River Severn and the River Avon, and is well worth a visit for pretty strolls. For a day at the races, head to bustling Cheltenham (10 miles), while nearby Cotswold villages with plenty of charm include Winchcombe, Broadway, and Stow-on-the-Wold (all within 19 miles).
