About this property

A warm and welcoming all-ground-floor secluded black and white cottage sitting within easy walking distance of the slopes of the Malvern Hills, Mortons Cottage is in a prime location for a country retreat in Worcestershire. Found on the outskirts of Castlemorton, it offers an idyllic location with all you could need within just a short scenic walk or drive away. Park up right outside the property before venturing inside to find a beautiful holiday home, take a seat on the comfy sofa in the lounge while being surrounded by the characterful charm of original oak beams, a lovely spot to spend a quiet evening in, or head into the well-presented kitchen where there is everything that you need to prepare a meal before sitting down at the dining table or one of the two sets of patio tables and chairs in the front and rear gardens. Alternatively, there is a barbeque for that alfresco meal making the most of the space and privacy of the rear garden which has the benefit of the sunshine, as well as shade, throughout the day and well into the evening during the summer months. Mortons Cottage has original exposed beams in every room which is all part of the character of this delightful well-appointed property which manages

to combine the period qualities and features whilst also providing all the modern amenities you would

expect. Sitting within the Malvern Hills area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, you can expect to find a plethora of

walking and cycling routes right on your doorstep, or for those feeling more adventurous there are

plenty of other outdoor pursuits to take advantage of in the local area. The nearest pub is less than 200 yards away, and is one of many local country and gastro pubs within a

few minutes’ drive from the cottage. Please remember to bring a torch as being in the country there are

no street lights to help you find your way to, and more importantly your way back from the local pub! There is a village store situated in the neighbouring village of Welland which is one and half miles away – this stocks all basic essentials, fresh bread and pastries daily as well as serving as the local post office. Castlemorton Common starts less than half a mile away which then opens directly onto the wider expanses of the common and slopes of the Malvern Hills. The nearest town is Malvern, well worth exploring for its rich history, quaint shops, Morgan Motors and make sure you take in a show at Malvern Theatre which has productions from the West End and the Royal Shakespeare Company amongst others. The Three Counties showground, a short drive away, holds antique fairs, auctions, RHS shows and a

variety of other events throughout the year. Within striking distance of Malvern, Ledbury, Upton-upon-Severn, Ross-on-Wye, Cheltenham, Worcester, Gloucester and Hereford. The Cotswolds are also within easy reach and you could explore the main sites and villages as a day out from Mortons Cottage. Trains run from the nearby Victorian Great Malvern

railway station to Hereford to the South West and Birmingham to the north at regular times throughout the day. There is also a daily mainline service from Great Malvern into London Paddington. Mortons Cottage is in an idyllic setting in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and would be a

wonderful choice for your next country escape.

Welland is a thriving village resting south east of the Malvern Hills in Worcestershire. The village is home to a Post Office, village shop, pub and its very own family-run vineyard producing award-winning wine! Be sure to visit the town of Malvern where you can uncover rich history as well as easy access into the beautiful Malvern Hills where you can find ample opportunities for outdoor adventure including walking, cycling, horse riding, birdwatching and so much more.

Sarah the owner had left a welcome pack for us, consisting of a box of eggs ( from her own hens) fruit, a pack of croissants, a loaf of bread and a pint of milk. These were especially welcome as we'd foolishly forgotten to bring our own bread and milk. Sarah introduced herself to us the day after we arrived and is a very pleasant lady. The cottage itself was nice and warm on arrival which was a definite bonus, parking is literally outside the front door, again useful as both of us have a few mobility issues. Another bonus point is the local pub is only about 150 yards away and has a good menu (and very friendly pub dog)!
