Guests say

The Pump House offers a peaceful and unique countryside retreat, set in beautiful, secluded surroundings with abundant wildlife and scenic walks. Guests consistently praise the high standard of renovation, comfort, and well-equipped interiors, making it ideal for a relaxing break. The enclosed garden is perfect for dogs, and thoughtful touches enhance the stay. While a few guests noted minor issues such as the absence of a freezer, small TV, or occasional cleaning lapses, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return.

Most guests found the property clean and well-presented, with several describing it as spotless. However, a small number of reviews mentioned issues such as cobwebs, crumbs, and an unclean oven, which slightly lowers the score.

The tranquil, secluded setting within a country estate is highly praised, with guests enjoying the peace, wildlife, and scenic views. Some mention the remote access and rough roads, but these are generally seen as minor compared to the overall appeal.

Guests frequently highlight the comfort of the property, including the large bed, underfloor heating, and cosy atmosphere. A few noted the bed was too soft for their preference or found the sofa less comfortable, but these are exceptions.

The cottage is described as well-equipped and thoughtfully renovated, with quality fixtures and fittings. Some guests mentioned the lack of a freezer, small TV, or absence of a downstairs toilet, but overall facilities are rated highly.

Many guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as welcome packs with tea, coffee, milk, and biscuits, as well as festive decorations. Please note that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

We did not realise the pump house was so far from everywhere & the lanes were dreadful to it full of potholes & put us off going out muchThe cottage was ok , not cosy & a very small television which was quite far from the seating. The cooking facilities were plentiful but would not use the oven as was very dirty, it hasn't been cleaned for some time.Overall it was value for money but maybe needs younger fitter walkers than we are to enjoy the solitude it gives

We stayed in the lovely Pump House for a week in June 2026. Although the cottage is quite secluded this actually adds to the appeal, it was lovely and peaceful. The cottage is well equipped, beautifully renovated and set in stunning surroundings. Due to location, we made sure we had plenty of 'activities' booked. We visited the RAF Museum at Cosford, The Black Country Living Museum, The National Arboretum, Ironbridge & Bridgnorth, Blists Hill Victorian Town. We highly recommend The Oakley Arms for food, we visited twice during out stay.
