We had a fabulous 5 day stay at The Stables. A really quiet and relaxing place to stay, Lola, the dog, loved the orchard which was perfect for her to explore (at least 10 times a day!!). Jackson’s Bank which is only a 5 minute drive up the road was also perfect for dog walking. We used the farm shop down the road which had lovely produce, including delicious cakes!!

Nice quiet location. The set up was good for the two dogs we had with us. The outside area is dated with uneven decking and the seating wasn't comfortable.

The plus points: Beautiful countryside and lots of lovely walks. Excellent local pub and delicatessen/farm shop. Not so good: The property is tired and is obviously lacking maintenance. The quaint photograph of the external area to the front in the booking information is now overgrown, unkempt and looks tatty. The wooden patio area is dangerous for both humans and dogs. Holes where the wood has rotted, loose boards that flick upwards when you tread on them and boards that aren’t safe to stand on. There was a metal hook hanging from the ceiling at eye height that isn’t obvious when you first walk into the outside area. The roof narrows as you reach the small enclosed garden and is very easy to bang your head on, no warning of low roof beam. Generally not an area you felt safe in. Indoors is better, however beware of the slugs that appear indoors overnight. I trod on one near the tv on the carpet and there were several others. This put me off from staying for the other 2 nights we had booked. Not really an enjoyable experience only the beautiful countryside saved the minimum time we decided to spend there.
