Bryngwilla Gate Lodge is a beautifully designed, quirky property that offers high-quality fixtures, furnishings, and a generous starter pack. Guests appreciate the clean, warm, and well-stocked lodge, though some note the proximity to a busy road and the layout requiring outdoor access to some rooms. The property is praised for its comfort and unique charm.
The lodge is described as spotlessly clean, indicating a high standard of cleanliness that guests appreciate.
The location is well-placed for visiting Wales or England, but some guests mention traffic noise due to proximity to a busy road, suggesting a compromise between accessibility and tranquility.
The lodge is noted for its comfort, with comfortable furnishings and a peaceful bedroom. However, some guests found the separate wings and the need to go outside for certain rooms slightly inconvenient.
Facilities are generally high quality with top appliances, though some guests felt the property lacked certain expected amenities and maintenance details, such as the ability to open windows and the absence of hooks as mentioned in the manual.
While guests mention a generous starter pack and a wonderful hamper, there is inconsistency in the provision of gifts, and it is politely noted that such gifts are not guaranteed with every stay.
This stunning gate lodge was once the main entrance to Brynkinalt, a historic private estate situated on the Welsh/Shropshire Border. Now a stunning and unique escape, beautifully refurbished with attention to detail and all modern comforts, Bryngwilla Gate Lodge is the perfect base from which to explore North Wales and Shropshire.
Once the main entrance onto the estate, this spacious and welcoming gate lodge now has all you need for that perfect getaway.
With a unique layout, you enter property via the stunning central arch which carriages once passed through. The beautiful wooden panelled door leads to your left into the light and airy, spacious kitchen with a high ceiling, stunning arched windows and oak floorboards which perfectly complement the soft pink walls, pale green units and white granite work surfaces. The kitchen is well-equipped and has plenty of storage with a small turret housing a useful separate larder. A central island with stools is ideal for a quick snack or chatting while cooking. Passing through a second turret, you will find yourself in the cosy sitting room with a lower ceiling and windows stretching the entire width of the room. With a comfortable soft velvet sofa and large Smart television, it’s the perfect place to curl up and enjoy a film or a good book. A small dining table sits to one side for intimate dinners, board games or work if it calls, and you can use the door at this end of the property to access the gravel area at the rear of the property with views out over the historic English parkland, now part of the Estate’s organic farm.
Crossing under the arch and entering the other side of the split property takes you into the luxurious bathroom with a marble-topped vanity unit, a roll-top bath and a spacious shower. There is a traditional wc in its own separate turret, off the bathroom. Continue through the second turret to the elegant and spacious bedroom with large built-in wardrobes and a king-size bed topped with luxurious linens. With an external door and another window stretching across the width of the room along with beautiful nature inspired wallpaper and calm colours, this room is a tranquil space in which to wind down at the end of the day.
Guests can enjoy access to the formal gardens of Brynkinalt on a Tuesday (April to September).
The area offers something for everyone with Chester, Shrewsbury, Ellesmere and Ruthin all within a short drive. There are several National Trust properties close by with Chirk Castle just a few miles away, and Erdigg and Powys Castle an easy trip out. Also close by is the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal, a World Heritage Site described by unesco as ‘a masterpiece of creative genius’. There are also many beautiful walks in the beautiful surrounding countryside just waiting to be discovered. Why not come and explore?

Beautiful, comfy and quirky accommodation. Interiors are top notch. Comfy bed with the softest sheets ever! Lots of windows including sky lights. Beautiful bathroom. Perfect kitchen with everything for meal prep and service. Even had my own gardner and house cleaning one day. I really felt like a queen staying at Bryngwilla.
