Absolute bliss in an amazingly remote location! It’s a very special place to us personally, but if you are a nature lover, bird watcher or walker, it’s perfect. Everything you need is provided. A car is necessary if you want to take advantage of the many options for days out, but there are many walks from the door.

We loved our holiday here, starting with a warm welcome from Nesta. The setting and scenery are fabulous. You don’t really come here for shopping or restaurants, though there is excellent local produce, especially in Ludlow, so I gave local amenities four stars - we spent almost all of our time at the cottage or walking on the common. There is lots of freedom and it’s hard to get lost. The landscape is always changing around you as you watch the shadows over the hills and fields. We especially loved walking up to the hill fort. The cottage is comfortable, well furnished and unpretentious. The aga makes it cosy and we used it to cook a curry, though the kitchen is fully equipped with a standard oven as well. Our dog was fascinated by all the sheep and lambs but soon learned to have decent manners walking near them on the lead. There is an out building called a ‘studio’ which you could use for painting and drawing especially if you brought an easel - there is a table there, and it’s nice to have that option. The garden table is also perfectly placed for looking out over the farm. We’d love to be able to read a little about the history of the cottage and farm. We think that Nesta said Douglas is the 10th generation of his family to farm there and their son is 11th gen, and that the cottage was originally a one up one down. I’d love to know how old the original cottage is.For anyone concerned about possible open stairs, they are not. They are standard carpeted stairs, just a little narrow and with a bend.We loved it there and hope to return. Some of the sheep are pretty keen to escape - you have to be quick at the entrance gate :-)
