The Oaks in All Stretton is highly praised for its stunning location, cleanliness, and well-equipped nature. Guests appreciate the spaciousness, comfort, and beautiful views, making it ideal for family gatherings and walking holidays. The property's warmth and the generous welcome hamper add to the delightful experience, although minor maintenance issues and suggestions for improvements are noted.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Guests consistently mention the property's cleanliness, describing it as 'very clean', 'immaculate', and 'well maintained'. The high standard of cleanliness contributes significantly to the overall positive experience.

The location receives exceptional praise for its beauty and convenience for walking, with stunning views and direct access to local trails. The peaceful and idyllic setting is a highlight for many visitors.

The property is described as cosy, warm, and comfortable, with ample space and well-appointed rooms. However, there are a few mentions of uncomfortable beds and a desire for more seating, slightly affecting the comfort score.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and ample bathrooms. However, points are deducted for reported issues with heating, dishwasher, and water pressure, as well as suggestions for additional amenities like a TV in the room with the open fire.

The thoughtful touches, such as a welcome hamper and the house being warm upon arrival, are frequently appreciated. While these gestures enhance the experience, it is noted that such offerings may vary and are not guaranteed.

About this property

The Oaks is a substantial, detached country holiday house in a tranquil position in the South Shropshire hills, one of the UK's designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Situated on the side of the Long Mynd, this luxury self catering rental enjoys stunning views over the surrounding hills.

The Oaks has been refurbished to a high standard and offers contemporary, spacious and light accommodation. The garden is approximately two acres and is surrounded by post and rail fencing and hedges. Two large, sunny stone patios with teak furniture face west and south with delightful views over Shropshire's Caradoc and Lawley Hills.

Additional Information:

Two well-behaved dogs welcome (small additional charge), however we do ask that your dogs are restricted to the main hallway, utility room, kitchen and dining room. Thank you for your co-operation. Please be aware, dogs must be kept on leads whilst walking The Long Mynd. This is National Trust land where sheep roam freely.

Two travel cots and one highchair available on request.

To hire a hot tub for your stay, please contact Martin at the Shrewsbury Hot Tub company on 07989 036708. We kindly ask guests to bringing their own beach towels when hiring the hot tub.

Barbecue and large Kadai fire bowl for cooking and camp fire.

The AGA runs all year at the Oaks. During exceptional hot summer spells (which are difficult to predict more than a couple of days in advance!) the kitchen can feel uncomfortably hot during the day. The best way to deal with this is to open doors and windows to give a cross flow of air. The house is situated on an open hill side and even on summer evenings the AGA can give a pleasant background warmth.

Whilst the house has a Neff electric hob, double oven and microwave, the AGA gives increased cooking capacity and a 'special cooking' experience. Therefore the AGA will be alight when you arrive at the Oaks unless you advise us otherwise.

Catering service provided by Batchcott & Waller. Three course local dinner or fridge and freezer options.

Lovely house on edge of Long Mynd. Fabulous for walking.

The property is beautiful, in an amazing location and clean and very well equipped. The welcome pack was very generous, including a lovely fruit basket and cake, wine and biscuits. We are a group of freinds who have been on annual weekend trips for 20 + years, and this was unanimously voted the best.

A spacious and well laid out house which was larger than it appeared on the web site. The Aga made the house warm and cosy. The tall swing was a hit with both children and adults alike. A better house folder with more details of activities would have been appreciated. Walks of different lengths from the house, including the Yew Tree pub in All Stretton. Train/bus details to Ludlow and Shrewsbury. Some local menus.
