About this property

Stone House is a charming 400 year old cottage in a beautiful rural setting, just a short drive from Leominster. Boasting endless character throughout, the cottage has been lovingly restored to offer guests all the modern comforts you would expect in a luxury hotel, whilst retaining its historic ambience of a traditional home.

Once the local stonemasons abode and workshop, Stone House has been transformed into a stunning holiday home for all seasons with all the character and charm of a bygone era, seamlessly blending with all the modern comforts you could wish for today. The original wooden vertical beams have been exposed to create a stunning partition wall that will take your breath away as you walk into the flagstone floored entrance hall which is central to all the cottage has to offer.

The open-plan sitting and dining area is dominated by a traditional inglenook fire place, with a wood burning stove and two large sumptuous sofas, making it the perfect place to spend those cosy winter evenings. To the rear of the room is the dining area with a large table seating six and a beautiful handcrafted window seat with views across the garden. The bespoke fitted kitchen has been well-equipped to allow even the keenest chef to prepare those special meals for friends and family and leads through to the well-equipped boot room and back door of the cottage.

Across the hallway you will find a tastefully furnished snug with enough sofas and armchairs for everyone to gather round the large wall-mounted Smart television. The ground floor shower room consists of a walk-in shower and a separate utility room with sink, washing machine and a traditional wooden pulley system clothes airer.

A beautiful oak staircase leads up to the three well appointed bedrooms. Each has been individually furnished with beautiful fabrics and antique chairs to provide a tranquil and calm sleeping environment. Each room has wonderful views across the surrounding countryside and plenty of natural light comes through the traditional solid wood windows. There is also a family bathroom on this floor with a full length bath, ideal for a relaxing soak after a day exploring.

Attention to detail throughout this wonderful cottage ensures that you will want for nothing during your stay and the outside space is no different. To the front of the cottage next to the original stone cider press is a large solid wood table and chairs, ideal for alfresco dining or evening drinks. To the side of the house looking out to the Herefordshire hills is a large patio area with an overhead triangular sail providing shade whilst you relax on the outdoor sofa or cook up a feast on the pizza oven.

Nature lovers can enjoy the wide variety of birds that come into the garden every day and you are encouraged to take your morning coffee out to one of the garden seats and surround yourself in the magnificent birdsong. The small field opposite is home to some handsome rare breed sheep and if you are lucky you may spot a deer venturing down from the hills to wander into the garden.

This was Rural Retreats at its very best. Superb cottage. Best kitted out cottage we have stayed in. Super comfy beds too. Beautiful location and garden. Dark sky with a wonderful view of the Milky Way on a clear night. Owners clearly put a huge amount of care in to ensure every need of both 2 and 4 legged guests were met. A true gem.

We had an amazing time at this heavenly little cottage while visiting friends who live nearby. It's in a peaceful countryside location with breathtaking scenery, which we enjoyed from the garden sun loungers. Happily, the weather was on our side that week. The interior is comfortable and beautiful, with lots of charming details. The house is well stocked with kitchen equipment and other necessities. It was a real treat to be given the welcome hamper stuffed with goodies, including some local produce. We got a very warm welcome from owners when they brought over our pizza packs. The pizza oven was brilliant fun, especially enjoyed by our teenagers. There is lots to see and do nearby. We went quad trekking at the excellent Oaker Wood activity centre. On another day we went for mini golf and burgers at The Grove. We enjoyed the delights of Ludlow and Hereford, including the market, castle, cathedral/mappa mundi and the cafes. The climb up to the top of Titterstone Clee hill was steep but short and well worth it for the spectacular views.

A little piece of PARADISE. We have had a wonderful week here at STONE HOUSE. We have been so impressed with every aspect of this Rural Retreat. The attention to detail is impeccable, from the beautiful carpentry to the generous welcome hamper. Sara and David have been the most superb hosts, nothing is much to much trouble and their warm welcoming nature made our stay extra special. Our two young children have had the time of their lives in this truly beautiful place. We will certainly be back. Thank You!
