Hollywall Croft is a charming, historic cottage set in a tranquil, picturesque valley, perfect for those seeking peace, nature, and countryside walks. Guests consistently praise its beautiful surroundings, secure garden for dogs, and cosy, comfortable atmosphere. Wildlife sightings and friendly owners add to the appeal. While some mention creaky floorboards, dated décor, and minor maintenance issues, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return for another relaxing stay.
Most guests found the cottage clean and well-presented, with particular praise for clean linen and tidy interiors. A few minor comments about outdoor areas and maintenance do not detract from the overall impression of good cleanliness.
The location is frequently described as stunning, peaceful, and ideal for relaxation and wildlife watching. Its remoteness is appreciated by most, though a few note the distance to shops and occasional farm traffic.
Guests generally found the cottage cosy and comfortable, with special mention of the beds and warm atmosphere. Some noted creaky floorboards and older heating, but these were seen as minor issues in an otherwise restful stay.
The cottage is well-equipped for a countryside break, with all essentials provided. Some guests mentioned dated bathroom and heating facilities, and minor maintenance issues such as the toilet flush and kitchen lights, but overall facilities met expectations.
A welcome pack was mentioned, though it was noted as basic and not always up to standard. While the owners are described as friendly and helpful, guests should note that gifts or extras are not guaranteed.

This is a very pretty cottage. It’s in a stunning location. The double bed - crucially for a good stay - is really comfortable. There’s lots of hot water. The garden is completely secure for a dog. Eating outside is a delight: the table is 3 metres from a bird table where a family of blue tits came to feed with us entirely unafraid. The only sound is birdsong. Great walking in the area. The review that reckoned the need for a make-over is ‘desperate’ makes a correct but exaggerated point. The cottage feels a bit tired and unloved by the owners. Much of the equipment is either cheap or a bit inadequate. The ‘welcome pack’ was a litre of out-of-date milk and a packet of cheap biscuits. The kitchen lights didn’t work (not an issue in mid-summer), the loo doesn’t flush properly, the driveway was weedy and covered in poo, probably from the lame goose that is resident around the property. Couldn’t be champions choice at the moment but a little care would absolutely make it definitely special again. It is still a good place to stay and we had a lovely time there. Don’t let the minor negatives put you off!
