Here you can look over towards the Black Mountains of Wales and the Malvern Hills of Worcestershire, with uninterrupted English and Welsh countryside landscapes all around. Kington, a historic market town in North Herefordshire, very close to the border of Wales. The town is surrounded by fabulous countryside just waiting to be explored and is a well known centre for walking. It even has its own ’Walking Festival’. Kington also boasts the highest 18 hole golf course in England. Weobley, a quaint village with a Hollywood link where the heart-wrenching film Hamnet was filmed and is a must visit destination. Hay-On-Wyw is widely known as the "Town of books" and has one of the worlds biggest and best literary festivals, featuring some of the worlds greatest writers, thinkers and performers. Leominster - The Black And White Village Trail is a 40 mile trail that starts (and ends) in Leominster and passes by buildings going back to the Domesday book. Hereford is famous for the Mappa Mundi, one of the world’s most significant medieval maps, which is on display inside the Cathedral. The Cathedral is arguably the most splendid and intriguing building in the city. Take the scenic route along winding country roads through the Welsh mountains to Borth, with its sandy beach, the longest in Ceredigion. or to Aberstywyth, a seaside town with a famous University.

Steep Holme is one of the best places we have ever stayed. The views are stunning, wildlife in abundance to watch from the dining room at breakfast every morning. Lovely walks and everything we needed in Kington, just 2 miles away. Marjorie is the perfect host, close by if we needed her and left lovely cakes and flowers for us. The bungalow is so homely, spotlessly clean and we settled in immediately. Excellent value for money too. Hopefully we will return again as we all fell in love with unspoiled Herefordshire.

We had a lovely very hot week at Steep Holm. Marjorie was excellent and came to welcome us and provided a table laid with home made cakes and tea. The views from the bungalow are stunning and with clear blue skies even better. Visited several National Trust properties nearby and Kington High street is lovely with a market on Fridays, two supermarkets and a lovely local museum and Information Centre. Everyone was very welcoming. We know not everyone likes to cook on holiday but we do but there were few oven dishes, microwave bowls or mixing bowl and rolling pin. So take your own if you want to cook. Or perhaps Marjorie could add a few. we would certainly go again.
