About this property

Notts House is a delightful Grade II listed cottage, in a charming village with plenty of character. It is only 6 miles from the Cathedral city of Hereford and 8 miles from the market town of Leominster. It’s churchyard setting overlooks the 15th century village of Wellington, with its village shop and community centre. Throughout its history, Notts House has been the village school, the village brewery, and is now a sympathetically restored cottage, full of period features. This half-timbered cottage is approached via double gates that lead to a gravelled parking area with ornamental shrubs and hedging, along with a lovely patio and a garden shed, and to the west of the cottage is a further lawned garden enclosed by laurel and leylandi hedging for a private, secluded feel. Step inside to find a wonderful first-rate setup; it’s slate floors, exposed timbers, stonework and impressive fireplaces make a comfortable holiday home, spread over three levels. You enter the ground floor via an oak-framed entrance porch, to find an open-plan farmhouse-style kitchen, a lounge, study, cloakroom and boot room leading to the rear entrance. The first floor landing takes you to a cloakroom, a tiled wet room, the well-appointed en-suite master bedroom, and a second bedroom. The third and fourth bedroom are found on the second floor via an open-tread spiral staircase leading from the inner landing, both boasting lovely views and one even has its own washbasin. The surrounding area has much on offer with the city of Hereford just a short drive away along with the delightful regions of Shropshire and The Cotswolds. A short stroll will lead you to a handy village shop and post office to stock up on treats, and you can jump in the car to explore the National Trust's Weir Garden or tee up at The Herefordshire Golf Club, The Bell at Tilltington 2,7 miles Englands Gate 4,4 miles away. Visit the vibrant city of Herford, where you can tour the spectacular cathedral, unveil rich history at Black and White House Museum and sample crisp cider at Hereford Cider Museum Trust. Settled along the River Severn is the city of Worcester, home to Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum to soak in the culture or why not have some family fun at the Tenpin bowling? This fabulous holiday let is simply perfect for those seeking something a bit different, in an interesting part of England.

Wellington is a little village, with a shop and a pub, offering many attractions in the enveloping surrounds, with nearby Queenswood Country Park in Leominster, Court Farm and Leisure at Tillington, as well as The Cider Museum, The Waterworks Museum and the Herefordshire Trail at Hereford. Beautifully appointed. Entrance to property is difficult. Two second floor bedrooms difficult to reach But a very successful holiday stay. Warm and comfortable. Good location.

This is a great place to stay. It is peaceful, roomy, warm, well laid out and caters for everyone including the family pet. My wife is raving about the quality of the bed linen.....it may cost me a fortune! The weather was a bit mixed during our stay but we were comfortable and warm with lots to entertain us including games for the kids. This is a lovely area and staying in such a fine house added to the enjoyment of our stay. A special word of thanks to our host Lynn who was always there for us on the end of the phone if we had a query. Thank you also for the welcoming gift.

Clean, tidy and very well-equipped with a lot of character. The owner was very helpful throughout. Wellington village itself seemed to be a friendly place judging by our interactions with the locals, and a special mention for the people who run the local shop, who were great.
