A trip to one of the many market towns is a must where you can pick up local produce from a farmers' market or browse the independent shops. Hay on Wye is famed for books and the annual international literary festival and the market towns of Ross on Wye, Monmouth and Leominster all welcome you with an eclectic range of independent shops.
