The Common is also within easy reach, and a nearby footpath leads down to the harbour, where the pedestrian ferry takes you to Walberswick (summer only).

Benacre National Nature Reserve (5.5 miles) includes the reed beds and lagoons of Benacre, Covehithe and Easton Broads and is on the route of a major walking trail, the Suffolk Coast & Heaths Path. Walkers can join the coastal path at Southwold for a lovely walk to Covehithe Beach (10.5-mile circular walk).
