Corton Gem is a well equipped bungalow, an advantage being the secure garden as we have a greyhound. It was a pity we didn’t find the beach until the last day. You have to go along Corton Rd to links road. A bonus being the free parking although a bit rough it was worth it.

The bungalow was spotlessly clean and spacious, and the enclosed garden was perfect for dining al fresco, and letting the dog roam around safely. The location was residential and very quiet, with one main road running through the district. There is one pub which serves nice meals, and large playing fields a minutes walk away, used for youth sporting activities all weekend, and a car boot sale every Tuesday, which is worth a visit. Otherwise there is little to see or do within walking distance. On the other side of the main road there are 3 holiday camps (hi de hi comes to mind), dotting the coastline, on high ground, with very little access/many steep steps down to the sea level. There is no beach, just boulders. However, the house is perfectly situated, for exploration by car, with the nearest supermarket less than a 10 min drive. The Welcome pack was a real treat, and the posh doggie snacks were much appreciated by Lucy. The owner was very helpful when we needed help activating the hob.

A lovely well equipped bungalow. Very comfortable. Ideal for a family. At £1300 for a week, we found it a tad expensive for the area. There isn’t a great deal to say about Corton. There is one pub, serving basic food. It also has a small shop. But there is a big Tesco nearby. The main street of Corton is taken up entirely by holiday villages. But just outside Corton there is a parking area and access to the very fine beach. There is also a lovely nature reserve. Adjacent to the beach is an even bigger 60 acre area with paths, woods, bracken which is lovely to walk in. In the parking area is an excellent café, serving lovely sandwiches, toasties, burgers, cakes, coffee. All very reasonably priced and the best food in the area.
