A potentially lovely house in a beautiful setting however : The many steps in and out of rooms especially into and in the bathrooms meant that it was unsuitable for elderly people ( we had 3 in our party of 5 ) . This was not mentioned in the details and resulted in my father in law having a very bad fall.In the middle of the night in the main bathroom .resulting in cuts and bruises and considerable trauma The welcome pack contained no bread or wine or sugar Whilst one expects variations the bread is pretty essential when you are only checking in at 4pm and not near shops . There were also no personal toiletries in the bathrooms . The place was not very clean - front porch was very dirty , kitchen floor whilst had been hoovered or swept was black with dirt when wiped , corners of bathrooms full of cobwebs etc . The was also a bowl of decaying food in the fridge . The outside furniture looked good but the glass top of the table was very dirty . Some aspects of the house description were in accurate or out of date: the main bathroom was not en-suite as described - The photos appeared to show furniture which was no longer there including armchairs in bedrooms and in the living rooms , also table lamps missing. A very large table tenn table had been placed in the conservatory making it unusable as a sitting room . There was no lock On the down stairs loo. Whilst having some personal effects in a house such as books etc make it More homely it was surprising to see the owners clothes in one of the bedrooms and some of the drawers full of personal items , papers etc . The kitchen equipment was lacking in areas eg no oven proof dishes , minimal saucepans , very poor quality kitchen knives . I have rented many many holiday homes with rural retreats and tge have always exceeded expectations. U fortunately this was very much the opposite .

Apart from the lack of mobile signal, which meant that coordinating with family members, it was a great location. The house was brilliant, very clean and comfortable, and there is so much to see and do in Suffolk. We hope to do as well in another location next year! Try the Low House in Laxfield, it is a unique pub and well worth a visit.
