Framlingham, a picturesque market town listed in the Domesday Book (1086), has been around since Anglo-Saxon times, when it was made up of many manors that William the Conqueror (1066-1087) gave to Roger Bigod. The town's main attractions are its enormous castle and mere, constructed between 1190 and 1210. The town is bordered by charming towns worth exploring, and it is home to two of the country's oldest working post boxes as well as Britain's smallest house (the footprint measures just 6.1 by 2.2 metres)! The town is now home to the Framlingham Summer Arts Festival and features a variety of unique stores, cafes, pubs, and restaurants.
