Iken is a very beautiful and peaceful spot in Suffolk. The views along the estuary back towards Snape Maltings are stunning and the walk along the river provides a wonderful opportunity to spot lots of different birds and wildlife including the odd seal basking in the sunshine.
Snape and Snape Maltings have a number of good places to eat whether you are looking for a snack or a more substantial meal. The Plough and Sail and Golden Key both have local produce at the heart of their cooking. The Maltings has a wide-ranging programme of events and concerts on offer throughout the year with lots to entertain. Although The Half House is described as 'studio style' we were amazed at how spacious this lovely cottage isEverything you need is in the kitchen, wonderful comfy bed and the sofa is in front of the woodburner on a rainy chilly eveningThe cottage looks out on a lovely open garden and all you can hear are the birds.The lane is quiet, but it's only a 5 minute drive to Snape Maltings and local pubsAldeburgh, Southwold Orford and Woodbridge are all within easy reach and there are lots of walks we are still to explore so we will definitely be returning
