About this property

A home from home canvas-wrapped three bedroom colonial style tent. Sweffling glamping site lies in a rural triangle between Framlingham to its inland west, coastal Southwold to the north east and seaside Felixstowe to the south - Suffolk's own golden triangle of fun, adventure and charming discovery.

The tent is equipped for practical day-to-day comfort and furnished with a gracious, relaxed elegance. Solid decking floors run throughout the spacious interior, extending to the terrace at the front and a practical porch entrance to the rear.

The living area is open-plan with plenty of room for families and friends to enjoy the 'at home' parts of your holiday together. A solid, wood-burning stove is the lodge's warming heart. It makes for a cosy retreat from our seasonal chill. A sofa and array of casual seating circle a large coffee table. Sit back and relax with a glass of wine, or prepare for Monopoly mania or several strenuous sessions of snap.

Dine in comfort

You can sit up for breakfast and supper in the dining area. A pine table and high-backed chairs seat six with ease. From the practical selection of tableware and ornamental dressings in the kitchen, you can decide whether to lay the table for a simple family feast or add those touches of candle-lit elegance that make dinner the highlight of your day.

Sleep tight

All the bedrooms are roomy and separated for privacy and comfort. The tent has one double; one twin and a bunk bed room. All beds are all in solid pine with comfortable mattresses and plush duvet sets throughout. The tent has ample room to lose holiday clutter and to hang, stack and drawer clothes and toiletries too.

Your very own shower and WC

The wooden door to the great outdoors here adds to your privacy because this is also where you'll find the shower and WC. The shower runs off an independent hot water system and the spray can be altered to suit with its adjustable head. Both 'rooms' are plumbed in, to drain and flush away from the standing.

Now you're cooking

Home cooking takes on various forms. The kitchen has a butane hob for copious cups of tea - ideal for simple meals or a stir-fried treat. Simmer an all-in casserole on the hob of the wood burning stove or warm up a curry carry out inside.

Step into the outdoors

Zip yourself out of the dining area and into the practical nerve centre of your Colonial canvas hideaway. Here, there is room for all those outdoor necessities – muddy wellies, dripping coats, sandy buckets and spades.

A 'Rural Retreats Complimentary Welcome Hamper' will not be included in a glamping booking.

If you're looking for quality time away with the children this is the place. The tent is impressive, the beds are super luxurious and it has everything you need to make your stay comfortable and exciting. The children loved collecting logs for the fire and playing games in the evening with no distracted mummy and daddy. Lanterns for the evening could be charged through-out the day and I even managed to straighten my hair in the honesty shop to allow me to visit the 'in laws' semi presentable. Unfortunately we didn't get the time to try any of the local cycle route so that is a must when we return. The honesty shop has lost of info about the local area and Laura was a great host. I would recommend taking some paper to assist with lighting the burner and also a few extra lanterns at night. We had a great time and will definitely return in the future.

My husband and I (along with our best friends) have just returned from our first ever Glamping experience. We stayed at the Lantern & Larks site in Suffolk, and I simply couldn't recommend it more! I had arranged the 3 night stay as a surprise for my husbands birthday and on arrival we were shown our private and secluded 'Kestral' tent by the very welcoming and lovely site manager Laura who had decorated the tent with balloons and banners! The fire had been lit ready for our arrival so we instantly felt at home. The tent was extremely well equipped with all the necessary kitchen utensils. As well as the wood burning stove in which you could cook on top of or in the oven compartment, there was also 2 gas rings to use making cooking each meal a lot easier. The whole tent was furnished to a very high standard, the beds were huge and ridiculously warm and comfortable. There was a private flushing toilet as well as a (hot!) shower room. As there is no electricity a large cool box is provided to keep things cold (we couldn't believe how well this worked - although I was pleased to have brought freezer blocks from home) as well as 2 electric lanterns, however, I would recommend bring copious amounts of candles and perhaps extra lanterns as we did. The honesty shop on site is well equipped with battery packs for the lanterns and freezer packs for the fridge. You can buy all the essentials as well as fresh eggs during the right season. There was a lot of information on the local area available, Laura was also very helpful in pointing out the direction of the nearest towns... as well as the nearest pub! This was one of the most relaxing and fun long weekends away, the perfect place to go with very good friends. I cant speak highly enough of the service received as soon as I booked with Lantern & Larks and the friendly welcome received once we arrived at Sweffling Hall farm. Loved it!!

Laura was an incredible host. The facilities were great. We also loved that extra were thought of, with charging stations for lanterns, extra freezing bottles for keeping things cold, and ready made meals for purchase in the deep freeze. We also enjoyed picking up our fresh eggs from the farm's own chickens. There was a pub within walking distance and a few small towns with 10 minute drive to grab a bite or some groceries. I would highly recommend it.
