Enjoy a relaxing escape at this single-storey cottage, which welcomes couples, friends or small families with older children. You’ll be just 500 meters from the heart of Saxmundham, where you’ll discover quaint streets lined with historic buildings as well as a variety of independent shops, handy supermarkets and friendly pubs and restaurants. This is also a great base for exploring wider Suffolk. For a day out at the coast, Southwold and its iconic pier and beach huts is just 17 miles away. In the opposite direction, Thorpeness, Aldeburgh are 8 miles away and the National Trust’s Orford Ness National Nature Reserve is within 12 miles. Head to Framlingham Castle (8 miles) to see 800 years of history, from medieval aristocrats to Georgian poorhouse children, or visit the impressive Somerleyton Hall (28 miles) and stroll through its spectacular gardens.

Enter the flint-faced cottage to find an open-place space with a high, vaulted roof, rustic beams and a large, decorative fireplace. With cooking, dining and lounging all in one long room, this is your home from home of the holiday, cosy at any time of the year. In the kitchen, you can get to work preparing tasty meals using the double oven and gas hob, to be enjoyed at the dining table for four. After supper, there are books, board games and maps provided, and you can sink into the comfortable seats for some quiet time or switch on the Smart TV and stream a favourite show. When you start to feel tired, choose from the two bedrooms, both of which have ample hanging and drawer space, blackout curtains and mirrors, and sleep well on a memory-foam mattress. The bathroom offers a shower over the bath, ready for long soaks or refreshing rinses.

At the back of the cottage, an open alley leads to a small courtyard where you’ll find a sheltered area and two bistro sets, perfect for a morning coffee or a sundowner after a day outdoors. Parking is on-street, and although subject to availability can usually be found within a few metres of the door.
