Guests say

Guests have enjoyed the spaciousness and tranquillity of An Croke, appreciating its large garden and comfortable beds. The property's seclusion adds to its peaceful charm, although some guests noted it can be tricky to find. The location is ideal for exploring Suffolk and the surrounding areas.

The property is generally described as spotlessly clean, with high-quality towels and bed linen. However, a few guests mentioned dirty windows and a not-so-clean microwave, slightly affecting the score.

The location is praised for its peacefulness and convenience for visiting local areas, though some guests found the property hard to locate initially. The absence of a name plaque was noted.

Comfort is highlighted with comfortable beds and a warm, cosy atmosphere. However, some guests found the lounge seating old and uncomfortable, particularly for those with mobility issues.

Facilities are well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and large TV. Maintenance issues such as non-working radiators and the need for some TLC are mentioned, indicating room for improvement.

While guests have mentioned a lack of welcome pack, which was expected from the property write-up, there are not enough reviews discussing gifts or additional thoughtful touches to accurately score this category.

A very tranquil location ideal for a retreat. We enjoyed the stay, our second in two years, despite constant rain but the issues indicated to the owner in February 2025 had not been fully addressed. The radiators in front bedroom and bathroom were unpredictable but mostly cold. There was still a faulty lamp switch in front bedroom. In addition, the windows were in dire need of a clean, only one tea towel and no hand towel for the kitchen. More than one toilet roll could have been supplied in en suite.Beautiful curtains spoiled by having to fold over radiators to ensure heating rooms effectively. However, the bungalow was very warm overall and certainly had plenty of room.

The cottage is in a great location for exploring Suffolk. It was very spacious, comfortable and well equipped. We had terrible weather so appreciated how warm and cosy it was. The garden was a lovely size and would be a great place to sit in warmer months. We walked into Barrow and had dinner in the 3 Horseshoes which was excellent.Would be happy to stay here again.

A beautiful, well equipped and well furnished property. Excellent beds, linen crockery etc. However the house was let down by poor housekeeping. Windows were very dirty (especially obvious in the recent bright sunlight). Microwave was not clean. Radiator in main bedroom did not work. Throughout the house, the curtains, (very heavy, high quality and full-length) required a good deal of manhandling to clear the radiators when drawn, to enable the heat to warm the rooms. (This last comment is not a complaint, it’s just a shame to have to fold up such beautiful curtains on the windowsills).
