This little market town in Suffolk is home to the renowned artist Thomas Gainsborough and features charming half-timbered cottages and sloping roofs. Take a trip along Gainsborough Street and down a little lane to reach Gainsborough House, his birthplace and residence for the majority of his youth. This tiny, late-medieval brick home contains a magnificent collection of some of his finest works. Resting in the Stour Valley in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the majesty of Sudbury's surrounding scenery inspired the majority of his works. Stroll along the River Stour and take in the calm ambiance, or meander around The Croft with its verdant meadows and magnificent fauna, a great place to take the children to feed the ducks. Enjoy the region's stunning architecture, which consists of Victorian terrace houses, Georgian manors, and mediaeval timber-framed halls. Belle Vue Park is a beautiful place to relax and watch the world go by, and the town offers a variety of stores to enjoy. This ancient market town is about fifteen miles from Colchester, where you may see the 11th-century Colchester Castle, the manicured grounds of Hollytrees Museum, the Colchester Zoo, and the breathtaking High Woods Country Park. Additionally, Sudbury is not too far from the coast, so why not take a day trip to see the 350 miles of breathtaking shoreline in Essex, one of the most diversified areas of startling, raw natural beauty? This is a charming village and a fantastic setting for a family vacation.

It is clean & comfortable in a quiet location but also very close to amenities in central Sudbury. Many Suffolk places of interest are nearby. We were well provided for & very pleased with the generous welcome basket. Thank you Maggie.

A lovely welcome pack, owners seem to have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. Sudbury and surrounding area is full of great places to visit. An added bonus was a newly opened microbrewery at top of the road. All in all a great place to stay and look forward to return in the future.
