About this property

Bildeston 2.4 miles. Immaculately presented, Brick Cottage in Suffolk is an impressive rural cottage which is perfect for families on holiday. The open-plan living space is stunningly presented and makes it a simply wonderful space for families to spend time together, with the clever addition of a separate living room for anyone who wants some time away from the hustle and bustle of the main house. As the name suggests, bricks are very much the theme with some beautiful feature brick walls helping to create a truly rustic yet contemporary ambience. The sitting room is warm and welcoming with wood flooring and a sofa arranged in front of the woodburning stove, making it the ideal spot for curling up together and catching up on the day’s adventures. The open layout means that the appointed chef can step into the well-equipped kitchen and prepare food while the rest of the family can gather around making a truly social space. Once the meal has been prepared and cooked, guests can gather around an attractive dining table where you can imagine spending many happy hours drinking, eating and generally putting the world to rights! Outside there is a delightful patio area set up with a table and chairs, making it ideal for alfresco dining and extensive lawns with bench seating so the grown-ups can take a seat with a tipple in hand whilst watching the children (and dogs!) running round the gardens safely. Holidays don’t get more relaxing than that. When bedtime calls both bedrooms are equally inviting, and the family bathroom is fully fitted with everything needed for either a refreshing shower or a relaxing soak. Brick Cottage is a great base for getting out and about and exploring the local area with the sleepy village of Kettlebaston right on the doorstep and a short drive away towns such as Bildeston, Lavenham and a little further afield, Ipswich are all well worth a visit. Under an hour’s drive away are the sandy beaches of Frinton, Walton and Felixstowe, so why not pack a picnic and make a day of it? For a taste of history, take a trip to Helmingham Hall and Open Gardens and Melford Hall or for a day out for the whole family, try Castle Country Park and Easton Farm Park. For a family holiday to remember pay a visit to Brick Cottage.

Within the county of Suffolk lies Bildeston, a small village holding lots of history, situated north of the Dedham Vale aonb and south-east of the larger town of Bury St Edmunds. This thriving village enjoys a whole host of amenities, including several pubs, one of which is a gastro-pub, The Crown, where you can delight in excellent food on holiday. Along with these watering holes, there is a village shop and Post Office, a village hall and a bike shop, so you aren't far away from all you need within this little corner of Suffolk. The surrounding area is made up of rolling hills, vast farmlands with a scattering of villages, so ensure you've packed some walking boots for your holiday so you can enjoy the landscape to the fullest. Around 40-minutes in the car brings you to the large town of Ipswich where you can find all of your favourite shopping places as well as a wide selection of restaurants, some on the waterfront overlooking the banks of the lovely River Orwell.

Home from home. Loved everything about it. Peaceful surroundings, beautiful garden, house immaculate. Great touches ie homemade flapjacks, toiletries left, wine in the fridge, treats for the dogs. Love this place so much.

The main garden is beautiful and completely secure for the dogs - such a bonus. The small area at the rear is a bit of a waste and with a little work this could be a suntrap as well as a great place for dining for alfresco dining on warm evenings and sunny mornings. Some parts of the garden are still overgrown and again a bit of tidying-up would add to the property. Sadly the 'living room' is a bit dark (as it is based around an older cottage with one small window) and a bit unattractive so hardly used - An additional TV (maybe on the wall if space is an issue) in the main area would be a bonus for those simply wanting to relax for an hour or so to catch up on the news, or even the god-forbidden soap opera. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you could need with huge useful surfaces for the avid chef. The bathroom features a large, deep bath which although very enjoyable, is difficult to negotiate as there are no 'grab handles' or similar to assist getting 'in and out' if not very athletic or of an older era - The loo in the bathroom isn't exactly highly efficient in the flush department and needs adjustment. Please accept that all of these comments are not criticisms rather than what we hope are helpful hints on how this truly wonderful property can become even more worthy of even greater high praise and recommendation. The best feedback is that we would love to come return very soon!
