Clyffe Cottage is ideally located in the grounds of the owner's own home in the village of Clyffe Pypard in Wiltshire. Delightfully furnished throughout, this characterful cottage provides well-appointed accommodation for a romantic break in this idyllic part of the country. Set out over two floors, the first floor of this charming cottage provides a double bedroom and separate walk-in shower room. On the ground floor the open-plan living accommodation boasts a large and welcoming open fire for those chilly winter evenings, a well-equipped kitchen and a homely dining and sitting room where you can enjoy the peace and tranquillity that the cottage offers.

Outside there is a small patio with garden furniture, perfect for a refreshing drink or your morning coffee whilst taking in the beautiful surroundings. Situated in rural northern Wiltshire and close to the border with Gloucestershire, the friendly market town of Royal Wootton Bassett can be found just five miles away, with a range of shops and a supermarket it will cater for all your needs. Clyffe Cottage is also ideally situated to discover the delights that this region has to show; these include the ancient stone circle at Avebury, the beautiful market town of Marlborough and Lacock where many of the most successful TV period dramas of recent years have been filmed.

Clyffe Cottage is the ideal base to discover this lovely area all year round.

Clyst St Mary is one of the six Clyst Parishes in the Valley of the River Clyst and takes its name from the church in the village. Adjacent to the church are pubs, a Post Office, local stores and a bus service that operates between Exeter, Exmouth and Sidmouth. Less than three miles away from Clyst St Mary is the popular town of Topsham. This charming town is set on the River Exe estuary and has been declared a conservation area due to the wealth of 17th and 18th century merchants' houses, many built in the Dutch style with carved gable ends. Housed in a fine 17th century building is Topsham Museum offering visitors lovely period rooms, an estuary garden, a courtyard, and a chance to read about local history that portrays Topsham’s maritime and ship building past. Topsham also boasts specialist antique shops and some stunning views over the River Exe. The river has become a haven for wildlife with extensive reed beds, salt marshes and mud banks, which attract birds from around the world, including the largest flock of avocets in the UK. There are also some fabulous walks along the banks of the river, including one from Exeter to the coast at Exmouth. A short drive from Topsham takes you to Exeter; a lively city with a magnificent cathedral, historic quayside area with artisan shops and cafes, guided tours of the maze of underground passages and a wealth of bars, shops and restaurants. Within a 15 minute drive of Clyst St Mary there are some fabulous beaches at Sidmouth and Exmouth, and the start of the 95 mile stretch of Jurassic Coast, all of which provide ample opportunities for relaxation, sport and exploration. Clyst St Mary is an ideal South Devon base due to its proximity to the city of Exeter, pretty countryside and Heritage Coast.

The cottage is cosy, lovely open fire and works perfectly meeting all our needs. Great location for cycling in all directions and interesting places to visit

The cottage met all our needs and Tom, our host, was always on hand to answer questions about the area and generally chat without being intrusive. It was a very nice touch to leave eggs, milk and butter in the fridge. Shortly after our arrival Tom brought us a freshly baked loaf of organic bread. We will gladly stay there again.

Fitted carpets down stairs with several rugs on top trip hazard for older people. There was no rubber mat for the shower I mentioned this to Tom hopefully he will get one, I used a towel. Lovely comfy bed we slept well. Lots of hot water. Lovely views ( bring your binoculars) peaceful and quiet. This is a lovely place for younger people very peaceful and quiet don’t let us Put you off it’s not for oldies. Tom was always helpful but did not intrude lovely man. Janet and John
