Guests appreciate the proximity to Salisbury and Stonehenge, as well as the comfort and cleanliness of the cottage. The owner is noted for being helpful and responsive. While most reviews are very positive, a few mention minor maintenance issues, occasional clutter, and some discomfort with outdoor seating or garden security. Overall, the property offers a relaxing and memorable countryside retreat, ideal for families, dog owners, and those seeking tranquillity.

Most guests found the property very clean and well maintained, though a few noted cobwebs, mould in the bathroom, and some clutter. These were minor compared to the overall positive feedback.

The location is consistently described as beautiful, peaceful, and ideal for exploring local attractions such as Stonehenge and Salisbury. The countryside setting and river views are particular highlights.

Guests generally found the cottage comfortable, with spacious rooms and cosy beds. Some mentioned uncomfortable lounge chairs or sofas, and issues with heat during hot weather, but these did not detract significantly from the overall comfort.

The cottage is well equipped, with a good kitchen, laundry facilities, and thoughtful touches like a water filter. Some guests noted minor maintenance issues, such as broken items, lack of outdoor cushions, and an overgrown path, but these were outweighed by the positives.

I have downgraded the comfort owing to a couple of pointers, nothing horrendous and so easy to address which would then give this property “excellent”.Firstly, the freezer hadn’t been defrosted for ages as a result only one drawer useable.Secondly, we were in this property during the hottest week of the year and we roasted owing to lack of defuser blinds or curtains for the bank of patio doors which were all south facing. So the house acted like a green house. Thirdly, no cushions for any of the outside chairs and only one lounger which was useable, one umbrella partially broken. So comfort outside was nil.Fourthly, the Rayburn was blasting heat into the heart of the house through this heatwave.Lastly, the pacing slabs were quite dangerous as uneven and a number loose so wobbled. My husband struggle walking across this. Such a shame as overall a delightful setting but lacking in the small details, perhaps updating which could easily amount in the end to a “excellent” grade in the letting.

A lovely well equipped cottage with stunning views of the countryside. We really didn't want to leave. We had a lovely ritual of walking down to the river at night. It was very relaxing after a busy day.

The Fishing Lodge is a lovely comfortable place, and very quiet, with great views from the windows. There is parking on sight and a pub about 15 minutes walk away. The only problem was the limited Wi-Fi
