Shute End is a little hamlet in Wiltshire, three miles south of Salisbury, near to the well-known area of the New Forest. It's what we'd call a peaceful retreat where you can enjoy the best of rural England. The historic cathedral city of Salisbury, with its magnificent heritage, charter market, and wide variety of stores, pubs, and restaurants, is only three miles away if you feel like exploring the neighbourhood, and a small country road close to Avon Turn will take you to the New Forest boundary in about 15 minutes.

It was so quiet and peaceful. We watched the swans on the river, a deer in the garden, squirrels and lots of birds. During our stay Sheilagh and Martin kindly let us use their decking by the river. We spent a few hours having drinks one evening, watching the river and taking in the beautiful scenery. We could even see Salisbury Cathedral in the distance. The accommodation was very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The hosts are so friendly and let us have apples and pears from their garden. This place is very special and we loved it.

Bed and bedding were super-comfortable, all equipment clean and of good quality. Salisbury is just a few minutes away by car, but we could escape to the tranquillity of Avon Turn View at the end of a busy day. A real bonus was being allowed to use the owners' decking next to the river, where we loved watching the river and its wildlife in the unseasonably clement weather - 4 days of sunshine in mid October! Shelagh and Martin were the perfect hosts - we even went home with some apples from their tree. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in this part of the world.
