About this property

Nestled betwixt the New Forest National Park and Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Beauty is the wonderful village of Downton, where Villa Rosa lies. Resting opposite a fabulous pub for home-cooked meals and settled amongst thatched cottages, this Grade II cottage is a wonderful base for a family or two couples looking to explore this picture-perfect village. Park at the rear of the property to discover two private parking spaces to leave your vehicle and move your luggage inside with ease. Enter into the tastefully fitted kitchen/diner, here the designated chef can rustle up heart-warming dishes in the electric oven and hob, and a dishwasher can assist with the cleaning up. Settle down at the rustic dining table and tuck-in to a feast as you chat about the events of the day. Stepping through the home, find the characterful sitting room, hosting exposed beamed ceilings, an inglenook fireplace home to a toasty woodburning stove, as well as a plush sofa to enjoy a movie night in. As the evening draws to a close, climb the stairs to the first floor to indulge in a soak amongst the bubbles in the bathroom and there is an overhead shower to rinse off. On the first floor you will find a pretty double bedroom with a dressing area and furniture. Venture up to the second floor to reach the king-size bedroom, with sloped ceilings for an intimate feel and white-washed for a refreshing ambiance. In the morning, gather in the kitchen/diner to make use of the fantastic facilities to conjure a delicious breakfast or head across the road to soak in the village and treat your loved ones to dining out. Lace up your walking boots and explore the ancient banks of Langley Wood National Nature Reserve for a quaint stroll or immerse yourself in the Elizabethan manor house of Breamore House and enjoy the pretty tearooms. Jump in the car and visit the beautiful city of Salisbury, home to a magnificent cathedral with a museum to unveil the history of the city and a fun Escape Rooms to enjoy. Explore the riverside town of Fordingbridge, where you can fuel your excursions at a restaurant with riverside views, walk over the medieval bridge and rummage round a handful of gift shops for a souvenir. For a memorable escape to a quintessentially British village, choose 36 High Street.

Downton is nestled between the Cranborne Chase aonb and the New Forest National Park on the banks of the River Avon. Ideally placed for visits to National Trust properties. Fabulous dog walks and lots of places to run in the morning. Would stay again

Cottage was perfect, had everything we needed, kitchen fully equipped to ensure Christmas dinner was cooked to perfection. Very cosy. Excellent location for dog walks, The Moot and of course The New Forest. Local cafe and The Bull pub very friendly and excellent food in both. Crib Service attended in the local Church, very interactive and welcoming. All round wonderful time.

Conveniently placed for walks in the new forest and close to amenities. As others have stated parking is tight, but not impossible. It's on a very busy road, so there is some traffic noise. That said it didn't impact on our stay and we would definitely book again.
