The grand Corsham Court rests within the town, privately owned but open to the public for viewing the staterooms and gardens, showcasing an excellent art collection and well worth a visit. The Corsham Almshouse and Schoolroom is another historic building to see, with Grade I listed status, it offers a fascinating insight into education 350 years ago. Head over to the city of Bath to walk the grand streets and visit the renowned attractions and buildings here, most notably the Royal Crescent, an iconic row of Georgian houses used numerous times for films and TV, now home to The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa and No 1 Royal Crescent, a heritage museum. Another great day out can be had at the National Trust's Lacock Abbey, Fox Talbot Museum and Village, the former home to the creator of the photographic negative, along with Whitehall Garden Centre which has ice skating at Christmas. The attractive small market town of Corsham can be found in North West Wiltshire, only 7 miles from the regal city of Bath. The town offers a vibrant weekly market, and is renowned for its numerous Grade ll listed limestone buildings, many of which have been used as locations for TV series and films including Poldark and The Suspicions of Mr Whicher. Locally, Corsham Court is well worth a visit where the impressive art collection can be admired or visitors can enjoy the scenic parkland, designed by Capability Brown. Easily accessible is the stunning city of Bath, where there is so much on offer, catering for all tastes, from the magnificent architecture of the Georgian terraces to the celebrated Roman Baths and wonderful abbey. With ample opportunities to eat out, or indulge in a bit of retail therapy, you really are spoilt for choice. Alternatively, take the short drive to the 13th century village of Lacock, or to Castle Combe, once named England’s prettiest village.
