The nearby town of Paignton can easily be reached by car, and here you’ll find not only a world-class zoo but also many lovely walks along the coast path to places like Preston Sands and Goodrington. Churston golf course is a short drive away, as are the riverside towns of Kingswear, and Dartmouth with its famous Royal Naval College. Torquay itself is packed with activities, eateries, and shops. Nearby in Babbacombe are the Model Village, Cliff Railway Kents Cavern and Angels Tea Room. Torre Abbey and Cockington make for a wonderful day out with the family, as does a boat trip on the Western Lady to the fishing town of Brixham with its working harbour and famous fish quay, terrific selection of independent shops, restaurants and Berry Head Nature Reserve.
