These holiday cottages, The Old Dairy (ref UKC2112) and The Calf Shed (ref UKC2113), are peacefully situated in the grounds of the owners’ farm which is home to sheep and horses. They are both converted barns which have been renovated to a very high standard. They have underfloor heating throughout, and a wonderful wood burner to keep you cosy on cooler evenings. The barns provide an ideal holiday location from which to explore the beautiful countryside of Wiltshire. Nearby, Royal Wootton Bassett is a market town with a good selection of pubs, shops and restaurants. With easy access to the M4 it’s an ideal base for exploring the attractions of Wiltshire and beyond, including Avebury Stone Circle, Stonehenge, Silbury Hill, Bowood House and Gardens, Cotswold Water Park, Lacock Abbey, Westonbirt Arboretum, Castle Coombe, The White Horse hill figures and The Marlborough Downs. Within an hour’s drive you can visit the market town of Marlborough and famous cities of Bath, Bristol, or even Oxford. Shops, pubs and restaurants 3 miles.

Our hosts were very welcoming, even leaving 'goodies' for us. They provided lots of useful information on places to explore, and offered eating out recommendations. The location was great for exploring Wiltshire, and there were lots of walks on our doorstep. The accommodation itself was absolutely spotless and I would even say quite luxurious. The photos don't do it justice!

We absolutely loved our stay at The Old Diary. We always book our stays through Cottages.com and have quite a number of visits under our belt at various properties, but we can honestly say this is by far the best place we have stayed.From the moment we arrived, the hosts were absolutely outstanding so friendly, welcoming and genuinely lovely people. We had some great conversations with them throughout our stay, and their hospitality really made us feel at home.One of the highlights was waking up to the sheep every morning! One in particular nearly came home with me, it was always coming over looking for scratches. It was such a lovely and peaceful way to start each day.The location is perfect for getting out and about, with all the local amenities and attractions easily accessible.And the welcome flapjack! absolutely amazing! A lovely personal touch and very much appreciated.We enjoyed our stay so much that we’re already planning to book again as soon as possible, and we’re even considering bringing my in-laws along with us next time.If I could give more than five stars, I absolutely would. We couldn’t recommend The Old Diary highly enough and can’t wait to come back!
