About this property

This property has 2 bedrooms and an upstairs bathroom, along with a utility room and downstairs WC, and can sleep up to 4 guests. This superb terraced cottage is one of a row of local red stone cottages, comprising of the former coastguard station built in 1898, overlooking Watchet harbour, on the north Somerset coast. Tucked away down a private lane, but within an easy few minutes' walk from the village, this Watchet cottage is ideal for couples and families seeking a relaxing holiday by the sea. The sitting room has wonderful sea views across the harbour and marina, and opens onto the lawned garden, which is a lovely spot to enjoy a cold drink on a sunny day whilst watching the boats come and go. Upstairs are two bedrooms, with one boasting sea views across the Bristol Channel to Wales. Take a gentle stroll from this Watchet cottage down to the harbour, where quaint shops can be found, or for the more energetic there are plentiful walks along the coast towards Blue Anchor with its long promenade lined with fishermen. A short drive to Dunster is well worthwhile, which is a historic National Trust village with cobbled streets lined with cafés and gift shops. Families staying at this Watchet cottage will love the popular resort of Minehead with golden sandy beaches and plenty of fun on the traditional seafront. This delightful Watchet cottage will provide a lovely escape.

The Somerset village of Watchet offers a harbour and a selection of shops, while the West Somerset Railway passes the village and continues through scenery to the coastal town of Minehead. There are walks along the coast, plus the Brendon Hills and Exmoor are close by for countryside heaven.

It has been updated beautifully to provide a modern, welcoming, comfortable home away from home with all the things we could ask for including nice surprises too, like the postcards. We made great use of being so close to Watchet town for seafront walks, pub meals and town history. We are both quite arty and loved the changing views and sunsets for drawing and painting. We discovered the East Quay Art Centre in the new block building on the harbour.. how did we miss that from the info? :D It has a great coffee shop and lots to see and do for all ages in the colder months. The log burner was fabulous on the wintery nights and really heated up the whole house. I agree with a previous visitor, that the bedroom with the sea view is very cold and really needs another radiator/heater for the winter. All in all, a fabulous stay in beautiful cottage. Many thanks.

Very clean and comfortable and close to the towns cafes, pubs and shops. Lovely views across the harbour and easy to travel to the local sites although we found many of the tourist sites were closed for the winter which was a shame. Would definitely recommend.

) The location is excellent with wonderful views. We were grateful to the owner who sent very detailed, specific directions which were very helpful.Parking is straightforward. However, the listing by Sykes is very inaccurate as there is not a gas hob; nor a gas fire and the fridge, as noted by previous guests is no longer a tall fridge freezer but an under worktop fridge with small freezer box. In addition, the listing clearly states that there is a DVD player. Having had previous experience of the intermittent television reception in Somerset, we took DVDs to watch in the evenings. We were very disappointed that this amenity was lacking.
