The small, scattered village of Challacombe rests on the western edge of Exmoor National Park. The village is home to a pair of excellent amenities, despite being secluded within peaceful surroundings, comprising of the popular Black Venus Inn, a traditional country pub set within a 16th century building, and a post office that doubles up as a village store; the village is also home to the stunning church of the Holy Trinity which can be reached via a winding footpath through meadows and woodland. Walking enthusiasts can benefit from one of the several walking routes in and around the village, including a delightful path that leads from East Challacombe to Barton Town. Challacombe additionally rests within easy reach of a handful of brilliant sights to see, including the renowned Exmoor Zoo, the vast nature reserve of the Barle Valley and the National Trust property of Arlington Court. Exmoor National Park's centre is just moments away and beholds a range of outdoor activities, from walking and cycling to stargazing under its clear skies. The village is also close to North Devon's coast, where many fine beaches and the South Western Coastal Path, and the resort town of Ilfracombe can be found.
