Guests say

Guests have consistently praised North Huckham for its peaceful setting, beautiful gardens, and well-equipped facilities. The cottage offers a tranquil retreat with stunning scenery, ideal for nature lovers and those seeking a quiet getaway. The cosy living room and woodburner add to the comfort, especially during colder months. While the property's remote location requires a car, nearby Dulverton provides charming shops and eateries.

There is no specific mention of cleanliness in the reviews, so it is not possible to provide an accurate score for this category.

The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, beautiful views of Exmoor, and proximity to nature and walking trails. The remote setting is perfect for a peaceful retreat, although the steep driveway access is noted.

The cottage is described as cosy, with a woodburner that adds warmth and atmosphere. Comfortable beds and a peaceful environment contribute to a relaxing stay. However, one mention of inadequate heating in cold weather slightly affects the score.

Facilities are considered excellent, with the cottage being well-equipped and maintained. The gardens are well-kept, and there is comfortable seating available. The property is described as the best equipped by some guests.

The presence of a welcome pack suggests thoughtfulness on the part of the owners. However, as gifts are not consistently mentioned across reviews, it should be noted that such amenities are a delightful bonus but not guaranteed.

We very much enjoyed our stay. The house was a very good size and the garden is amazing. Staying in November, the woodburner was perfect, after long walks on Exmoor or the Quantock hills. Masons King's at Exebridge is a good place to get firewood and kindling at a good price. Dulverton is lovely, the Bridge pub is great for food! Lots of cafes and shops. The day we left, the temperature was -2.5, luckily the drive way wasn't icy, because it is very Steep! Overall, a very nice stay.

What a wonderful location, and so quiet! Great views across Exmoor as you descend the track to the house, tucked into the side of the coomb. The large house is clean and well equipped. The cosy living room has a lovely feel to it. I'm just cross I didn't find this place years ago!

Beautiful scenery all around the cottage, very remote and out of the way which was exactly what we wanted. Perfect for bird watching - saw lots of red kites and buzzards, plus bullfinches from outside the kitchen window. Dogs absolutely loved it, couldn't let my Scottie off the lead really as there's gaps around the garden she could've got through and she can't be trusted, but she was happy on a long lead watching the world go by bearing in mind the long walks she was going on every day. There's not a lot of shops nearby, but the shop/petrol station in Wheddon Cross has a lot of what you need - plus local cakes and bread. There's woods nearby which were lovely, Haddon Hill and Dunkery Beacon not too far and both had amazing views. Lynmouth and Watersmeet about 40 minute drive which is a must to go to. Dulverton was a lovely stop off about 30 minutes away, with quirky gift shops, a really nice deli with amazing pork pies and sausages rolls, butchers and grocers (also has good cake). Apparently there are a lot of dippers to be seen by the bridge in Dulverton but we're yet to see one still, I think we were just unlucky. We're very much looking forward to staying here again.
