About this property

Kittiwake is a first-floor apartment in the coastal town of Minehead and has everything you need for a wonderful stay. With a balcony with sea views and high ceilings you can enjoy the charm of the interior, and the location is perfect for enjoying the town and beach. Bring along your family of friends and be greeted by a private driveway leading you to an off-road parking space. Head up to the first floor and into the entrance hallway; here you can leave your sandy shoes ready to explore. The open-plan living space is a stylish space that is fitted with contemporary kitchen amenities with an electric oven and gas to prepare home-cooked dishes. It has a dining table for four, ideal for hosting small dinner parties and a long balcony with furniture to dine alfresco. Watch the sunset over the horizon and when the evening cools, retire to the sitting area, with a beautiful arch and a plush sofa to binge-watch your shows on the TV. For a moment of relaxation, venture to the tiled bathroom with the option for a bubble-bath or a wash in the walk-in shower. There are two bedrooms, a king-size with bedside lamps and white linen bedding and a twin bedroom, which has access to the balcony to admire the coastal views. A short stroll will lead you to Minehead Beach, where you can sunbathe with a book or build sandcastles with the young ones and to fuel your day there are a great selection of cafes and bars. This seaside town offers plenty of activities for visitors of all ages, from exploring the historic National Trust sites to splashing around at Splash Waterworld. Visit Taunton, this historic town is home to quaint parks like Vivary Park and French Weir Park, as well as the Museum of Somerset, where you can learn all about the county's rich history. The large market town of Bridgewater is also worth a trip with plenty of attractions to keep you busy, like the Walled Gardens of Cannington and Tea Room, Blake Museum, and Somerset Brick and Tile Museum. For a beautiful setting with much to see and do, choose Kittiwake.

Minehead is a prominent coastal resort beneath West Somerset's North Hill. This pleasant town has a mile-long esplanade and a golden beach. The lovely harbour, where the paddle steamer Waverley visits in the summer, offers good fishing. Enjoy a historic steam train ride on the West Somerset Railway or visit the award-winning Blenheim Gardens. Exmoor National Park's wooded valleys, attractive bridlepaths, and heather-clad moors are worth a visit, as is the nearby Norman Castle at Dunster.

Unfortunately, all the beds were very uncomfortable (particularly the single beds), the large bedroom is quite cold and the duvet was totally inadequate for this time of year (we had to layer all the throws on top for extra warmth) and the pillows were not particularly good quality.

Kittiwake is in the perfect position for both, close to the South Western costal path and close to restaurants and pubs so we didn’t have to move the car all week. The view from the veranda is great and we enjoyed a few glasses of wine sat outside in the sun. A big bonus was having the off-road car park. The only comment, and it didn’t affect our stay at all, is that the front room settee and and carpet could do with an extra clean, probably it is during the off season I don’t know. All in all we had a great stay and would go back again.

There was a very musty smell when we arrived.
